They went to staggered schedule due to shortage of bus drivers but has gone over like a lead balloon with parents. I do know some parents switched their kids to private school because of the new schedule.

 

Hard to really place the blame on anyone.  If you can't get people to do the job, this stuff happens.  

The employee shortage is real in education. There is a million reasons why anyone could say it has happened. The bottom line is eventually local districts and the state are going to have to throw money at this problem, and that money will have to go to employees. Unfortunately school district jobs will have to pay more or no one is going to want them. 

The staggered start times are going to cause much bigger issues than the issues they were supposed to “fix.”

Also, they couldn't pay me enough to be a bus driver in JCPS. Hard to concentrate on the road and deal with kids acting up which I believe is part of problem of finding bus drivers.

Scrolling through my Facebook feed and a lot of mad parents on there so today apparently was a disaster for JCPS. Hopefully improves over the coming days. Seems they always have some issues on first couple of days of school but never seen the anger at this level before.

 

I would be shocked if this plan isn’t rolled back. It is an epic failure, someone(s) should lose their job over it.

If people get fired it will be stories like this, not the staggered start times or late buses.

I don’t care how late buses are running, you don’t put children at risk. Many complaints like that and the state will be all over it and taking over jobs.
