The rush I felt standing at the altar when my bride started her walk down the aisle - still at the top of the list of best emotional rush of my life.

Glad to hear your wedding day was a great one.

Several people told me there was no way to prepare for that moment. They were right.

I was already crying, I just cried harder. ?

Snag the $5 seasonal bouquet from the flower stand at Kroger whenever you think of it.

Thanks everyone! Great advice and I’ve definitely taken notes.  Yesterday was perfect. Couldn’t be happier with how the day turned out. Best day of my life.

Congrats @TheDeuce!

So many people don't want to give marriage a chance with all the crazy stories they hear. It really is what you make of it. I see lots of good advice has been offered.

The old advice to never go to bed mad, is horrible advice. It's better to go to bed mad and give everyone time to cool down than to say something hurtful when you are mad. In time you and she will forget what you were even upset about, but you'll never forget what was sad in anger full of spite.

You'll find that in the morning, most of the things you were upset or mad about just aren't as important to you as your spouse is.

33 years in...this has worked for me.

I could write a book about how correct you are in this assessment. We were married at 17 and 18 years old and I've always lived by this and it has worked out well for us. I had a little bit of an attitude when I was younger and this protected me from myself then and it still does today with my older, hopefully much more mellow version.

You are much better off going the quiet route and thinking things over before you potentially do permanent damage saying things you are feeling in a moment of anger.

Fortunately for me, she’s always showed me grace in those times I was mad. She’s always allowed me time to chill out and calm down, which is what I need rather than being picked at.

She’s allowed and helped me to grow into a better person.

The difference between a successful marriage and an unsuccessful one may be as simple as leaving two or three things unsaid each day.

October will be 45 years for us.

That makes sense. Thankfully, she’s one of the very few people that I make sure I think before I speak, instead of sharing my initial reaction. ?
