I don’t think Scott got closer than 4 or 5 the entire second half.

Can Harrison stay within striking distance of Clark on Monday night? First game was a blowout but December was a long time ago.

My worry for Harrison is that while they average around 60 ppg on the season, they've average a mere 39 ppg in their six losses. Those kinds of numbers don't usually work against a GRC club that pours in 76 ppg. The Thorobreds will have more than a handful.

Scott had to shoot in the 20% range all night, could not buy a bucket.

I'd say that is pretty accurate. Will Furnish blocked the first couple drives to the basket and it affected Scott for the rest of the game.

From what I see, highly doubtful.  If you try to run with them, they will run you out of the gym.   If you play stall ball, their pressure is relentless.

When Furnish plays like he's 6'11...he's a game changer.  If that happens Monday night, it could make things interesting.

Harrison County beat Scott for the second time this season 48-35 to setup the 10th Region Boys Basketball Tournament semifinals. This is Harrison County’s first trip to the semifinals in eight years since 2015. The Breds led a majority of the game and went on a 12-0 run in the second half to get up by 17 points.

Harrison County defeated Scott in Taylor Mill 62-56 on January 5th. Scott was without Nolan Hunter.

COACHES’ COMMENTS

Terrence Brooks, Harrison County:

— “This is a big win for us. We worked hard all season long and played a tough schedule this year, and it means a lot. Having seniors like Will Furnish and JD Kendall that have been through the program since eighth grade. Year after year you want to go further and further. I’m proud of our guys. We had three good days of practice and it paid off for us.

— “I thought we shot the ball well, but in the first half we were little passive. They came out and put a little pressure on us and we weren’t looking for our shot. But, in the second half we kind of settled down. We executed our offense and got the ball where it needed to go.

— Kaydon’s big night and other players: “We need those guys every game. That’s what we tell them and they have to play with confidence. Kaydon’s going to do a lot. He’s going to handle the ball, he’s going to score, he’s going to defend, he’s going to rebound… but we can’t depend on him to do everything, so I was proud of all our guys. In the second half, Mason settled in and made some things happen defensively. He got out in transition and moved without the ball to get himself open and knock down some shots.

— About their style of play: “It’s what we do. All my years of coaching that’s how I coach. I don’t care how good kids are offensively their going to committed to playing defense. If they don’t, they probably aren’t going to play very much.

Steve Fromeyer, Scott:

— “We picked the last two games of the year to have our worst offensive output of the year.”

— Nolan (Hunter)’s had a tough year breaking his foot three minutes into the first game of the year. We didn’t get him back until January 20th and that’s hard. That’s only 5-6 weeks to get where you’re supposed to be.

— Brayden (Howell) came into the program when I took the job and I watched the kid in basketball camp. He’s just a gritty kid that plays really hard and it’s tough to replace that. He sprained his ankle yesterday in practice. But it’s his senior year and he’s going to play. He’s got two torn ligaments and two full tears and a partial tear and he’s played with it all year long. But he’s a tough kid.

— “We want it to be a full-court game. We had opportunities. But really good teams don’t beat themselves… Harrison County is very good and Terrence (Brooks) does a great job. “

Harrison County will play George Rogers Clark in the semifinals of the 10th Region at 7:45pm.

Scott’s season ends at 14-19. They lose four seniors: Nick Bowen, Brayden Howell, Nolan Hunter, and Bryson Lindloff. Nolan Hunter was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Yep.  Harrison absolutely cannot run with GRC.  Custard will have to have a near flawless game for them to stay anywhere near close.
