That was awesome to watch. In the hours leading to the game it was obvious he was going for it. And boy did he. It was different watching a “selfish” LeBron go for the record and not play within the game’s flow, something he has done his entire career… almost to a fault. Especially in a game they needed. What a night!

2/18/02.  Sports illustrated cover ‘The Chosen One.’  I believe he was 17 y/o.  I don’t care who you personally think is the GOAT. It is very rare in today’s world when someone is hyped like he was and not only did he meet expectations, but he exceeded them!  And by all accounts he is a good person.  Never any legal troubles.  Stable personal life.  Wise business man.  True living legend.  Congratulations LeBron. Personally, I hope he keeps playing at a high level and eventually gets another title.

I would guess that Jordan would have played in the range of 140 additional games in 93/94 and a complete 94/95 season.  Considering he scored 32.6 PPG the year before and 30.4 PPG the year after, I'd say it's reasonable to expect he'd have averaged around 30-31 PPG in those.  That's 4,340 points.  If he averaged say.... 26 PPG in the other 193 games, that'd put him up to 5,018 points in those games.  My speculation is that Jordan would be over 41,000 points for his career if he hadn't stepped away, closer to 41,500-41,600.  Absolute pure speculation.  In my statement you quoted I said it wouldn't even be a discussion - perhaps I'd have been more accurate to have said it wouldn't be a discussion yet.  I believe aside from injuries derailing him in the future that LeBron likely would've played as long as it took to catch whoever was in #1.  He probably would have caught Jordan at some point in the next 2-3 seasons, if he played that long.  That being said, earlier in this thread I noted that really the only reason Kareem was the leading scorer over LeBron at that point was longevity - he's still played in nearly 150 more games than LeBron.  And if the three point line weren't a factor, LeBron would still have caught him probably playing in fewer games.  I'd have made the same argument that would be the only reason LeBron caught Jordan.  Jordan scored over 3 PPG more than LeBron in his career.  That is not a small amount.

I can go with those numbers. Obviously I was thinking lower on the averages and I was thinking Jordan only missed one season with the baseball/gambling stuff. That had me putting him around 39,000. But if we give him even 42,000 - a little higher than what you came up with - LeBron is going past that. I see LeBron ending up close to 45,000. He has 4 more seasons in him almost for sure.

I'm not going "for sure" with four more seasons. Look, I think the Lakers should rally and make the playoffs this year with the moves they made, but at some point I can't see LeBron hanging around just to hang around competing for nothing. If the Lakers miss the playoffs again, this would be LeBron's last five years:

- Missed playoffs
- Title
- Play-in game, lost in first round in 6
- Missed playoffs
- Missed playoffs (TBD)

His nagging injuries + his game not having the all-around impact it once did would be plenty reason to question how long he wants to do this.

I heard an NBA analyst talking recently about Bronny. He said Bronny is skyrocketing up the draft lists and it is legit. I am seeing Bronny projected as a lottery pick. Le Bron definitely will play 2 more years. Maybe 3 or 4.

Yes he has risen. 247 (today) has him as the #33 player in what I understand to be a relatively weak class. Keep in mind that’s just American players, but it’s also not a mock draft. And don’t discount the hype train around him.

I feel bad for the kid. Talk about pressure.
