January 9, 200719 yr I am not into conferences so this makes no difference to me. I support schools....the way I see it is Florida is #1 in Football and Basketball. The SEC conference did nothing to help win them games. It was an effort by the kids in those two programs at Florida.

I do agree that the effort of the kids is huge, but if you don't think that playing in such a tough conference helped prepare the Gators then you are sadly mistaken.

I think the point in football is there were several SEC schools that played UF to the wire. Everyone was saying that Florida didnt deserve to go to the NC game because of this. I think it really shows the strength of the SEC.

I don't think I said anything about the SEC not having tough competition. I merely stated an opinion that I think the University of Florida deserves MUCH credit for their success.
January 9, 200719 yr After tonight it looks like Michigan should have been playing the gators, maybe it would have been a better game. Did you watch the Rose Bowl? Michigan was exactly where they belonged. I'm just thankful they didn't beat Ohio State, or else we would have had a rematch...
January 9, 200719 yr Let me guess - we'll all be called the "SEC Homers". Based upon what I am reading in here...I wouldn't say "homers"...I call it "sensitive"

January 9, 200719 yr What's that old saying I hear from time to time on BGP...something like this. "If you say it enough, people will start to believe it."

Florida deserves all the credit there's no doubt about that, but you stated that the SEC conference did nothing to help them win games. Being a part of the SEC helps Florida in numerous ways.
