The Dragons play host to the undefeated 8-0 Hornets of Metcalfe County at Dragon stadium this Friday night, in what should be a super competitive game with a ton on the line including a district title. Not only is this one a District title game, this game gives a pass of having to more than likely matching up with LCA in round two if they beat Danville. A second round game at LCA is not what you want to face that early in the playoffs. 

The Dragons come in off a big win over Edmonson County where almost the entire Dragon starting lineup was able to rest the second half after taking a 38-0 halftime lead. The Dragons come into the game healthy and really playing well on offense, outside of turnovers, the Dragons offense has been explosive in all phases of the game.
Metcalfe County comes in a littlE banged up, but still playing very good football and are massive across the front and really get after you with the front four. If the injured hornets are able to play this week, I think they have a good shot of winning this game, if not, I like the Dragons by one to two touchdowns. 
This game should be a battle, and holds massive implications for both. 
Give me the Dragons 36-28 in a slugfest. 

Green County is having a really good season; only marred by their loss to a Hart County team that has consistently been ranked in 4A, and a loss to Taylor County who is very, very good when they are fully healthy.

Green co has gotten better each week. There offense is balanced, and Explosive. They are starting to figure out things on deffense. 

Metcalfe is Metcalfe. Coach Harbison has done a great job getting these guys ready. Bennett and Bransetter are tough down hill runners. You load the box and the one of the top receivers in 2A is taking it to the house. There huge upfront with the return of District POY Luke Meadows. Metcalfe was clear favorite to win first half of the season. I think Green has closed that gap.

I'm going with Green. 52 to 40 in a shoot out. Green has played a tougher schedule, and could very easily be setting at 8 and 0 coming in.

I really don't think there anywere near the 2020 team. They are a really good physical team. They have alot of returns from 2021. Blythe is one of there best players. He has a nose for the ball. He is also top 5 in 2A in receiving. They have a good chance to beat Green if Green don't execute well.

I'm not sure who wins more than likely the team that has the least mistakes like turnovers and penalties. However I don’t think the score will get near as high as some are predicting Metcalfe has been stingy on defense all year I thinking it will be in the 20s.

So as in not anywhere near as good or they are that much better? That 2020 team came to Lex and got run clocked in the playoffs.

Much better than 2020. Most of the same kids starting on that 2020 team are still around today. They are massive up front and every kid is a senior on the line besides one junior, and a ton of those kids are 5th year seniors at that. They are a little banged up at the moment and have very little depth after the starters, but the starting 11 are very very good when healthy.

I feel as this Metcalfe team is more put together then the 2020 team.

Metcalf County is a Quality Team... Green County is a Quality Team... I've seen both up close and I can tell you.... Expect a Slobber Knocker this Friday... Will be a Great Game to Watch...

Guarantee, the stands will be packed. It will be standing room only. I've heard both Metcalfe and Green are hyped for this game. Last Year meeting regular season Green came in to Metcalfe 8-0 left 8-1. They ended up splitting the meetings 1-1 with Greens convincing win in playoffs. This year a one shot for each team for the #1 seed and district champs.  The atmosphere is gonna be electrifying. 

Loser here is really behind the eight-ball. First round home playoff game but against a solid Somerset team; win that and you have a likely road trip to Lexington Christian. Win this game and you get a first round home game against Washington County and a second round game most likely against a mercurial Danville squad.

Hopefully, one way or another, this game shines some light on whether Metcalfe County is really a top five team, as the BGP rankings reflect. 

Let's be honest, Metcalfe's schedule is… underwhelming. And that's being generous. There's a reason they're unbeaten but only #12 in the RPI. Their opponents are 14-50, which includes three winless teams. They've climbed the rankings because they keep winning while most of the 6-10 slots have been in a constant state of flux. 

The Hornets may indeed be a very good football team, but we don't have much to point to as evidence aside from an unblemished record and a defense that's been sensational every week against, as I said, an underwhelming slate of opponents. We're nearing the end of the regular season and just now getting an opportunity to accurately judge this team. I'm eager to see what judgment is rendered.

Absolutely. They are not a bad team. It's hard to compare Green, and Metcalfe because the only game in common is Campbellsville. Both Green and Metcalfe had fairly close scoring with Green giving up 7 and Metcalfe Giving up 14. Metcalfe hasn't really been tested on the defensive side of the ball. They return alot of the same players from last year squad. Green was able to take a one a dementional team and beat them last year. Granted Green lost a couple key Seniors on both sides of the ball from last year squad. (Lineman,LB) This year they won't be able to load the box and dare Green to pass. Green has a good QB Sophomore Hodges, and up to 5 targets with great hands (Ferguson,McKinney,Slinker,Houchen,Seymour) Plus have recently been a proven rusher when needed.  Green also returns 2 1000+ yard rushers (Houchens,Seymour) which there stats are down from last year due to a much balanced offense. 

Green has battled with defense all season. The new play caller has moved around some of the pieces to help the deffense out. They have depended on the offense to win close games. They have gotten better each week. Will they be able to handle Metcalfes offense. Blythe WR is there main receiving target. He can also be brought in motion to run the ball or lead block. Estes QB is not only a pass threat but a run threat as well. Anderson and Bransetter are very hard nose rushers. Very strong and quick. They both can take a screen pass at turn it up for a TD. 

Should be a great game. I see this game coming down to the wire.
