January 4, 200719 yr Completely agree. His passion has been gone ever since what happened on 9/11. I guess he realized there are more important things in life than basketball. It seems like he just doesn't care anymore. I think you hit the nail on the head there. The death of Billy Minardi really shook Pitino up.
January 5, 200719 yr It seems that UL has some chemistry problems. Too much dribbling. Obviously poor shooting. No playmakers. No scorers. No fire. Assuming but not admitting that there is talent on the squad, now is the time to show it.

January 5, 200719 yr Author :thumb: I think that's exactly the case...Louisville is traditionally a basketball school, but as you said they haven't had the success that the UK program and the people around it are used to. Thus creating a less-hostile fan base in terms of the condition the program is in right now. From a few of the UL boards I have perused, you are in the minority. Most seem tired of the Pitino-speak. He missed his second call-in show of the year tonight and Kevin Willard got grilled. RP never even called in. "Recruiting trip!"
January 5, 200719 yr UL is 10-4 as Big East play begins. Will they make the tourney? UL is actually 10-5 (losses to Dayton, Arizona, UMASS, UK, and Notre Dame). Although it is REAL early, their RPI is sitting at 119 with a SOS of 84. Ugly combination for Rick's squad. They have several chances to increase their RPI with games down the road with: Villanova, Pittsburgh, and UCONN twice. Barring some major upsets, I can't see any foreseeable way that they get themselves in the mix for an at-large NCAA bid. Losses to RPI #116 (UMASS) and RPI #52 (Dayton) don't help the cause.
