I'll go back and listen but pretty sure said December 2022 which would make sense since would be for 2023 season.

My understanding is during a 4 year cycle the KHSAA reviews enrollment numbers two years in. In the spring they supposedly look at the numbers and didn’t make any adjustments. So either they looked at the numbers and thought everything was fine (which even using the numbers at that time there were issues) or they never really looked at the numbers.

I would go with they didn't look at it.  There is an obvious mistake with the numbers for Covington Holy Cross.  The 2017-2018 number of boys is the same as total enrollment.  Unfortunately that bumps them up to 2A instead of being in 1A.  (assuming 50% boys/50% girls) That is a huge difference especially when it puts them in Beechwood's district.

Yes, addressed it earlier in thread.

It will be very interesting to see enrollment numbers from places in Jefferson County. After all of the talk last year of students not being in school, and in some cases unaccounted for, I wonder if some of the 4A/5A sized schools in Louisville might end up in a lower class. You can only count who is actually in the building.

You are correct. The sad thing is there are a number of teams that should of moved after two years that got put in some bad spots. There are districts in football where when you look at enrollment there are teams from three different classifications. 
 

Example there are some 5A districts with teams that should be in 4A, 5A and pretty close to 6A all in the same district.

If they classes are realigned by February 2023, it would be on schedule with a 4 year cycle.

 

We are currently on year 3 of this cycle.

Correct, though in the past they would review after year 2 (in the middle of the cycle) and adjust if there we’re schools out of place. That did not happen during this cycle for some reason.

Are we sure they didn't? I want to think they did an adjustment but no one hit the 10%/new class threshold. They came out with the document linked below.

That is cutting it really close on scheduling since the new alignment would go into play in the fall of 2023. Typically they have the realignment done a year in advance and then allow for schedules to be filled in. I know the last couple of years have thrown a wrench in everything but if the goal is to be realigned by 2023 that makes for a tight scheduling window.

Yeah, they said it would make scheduling more difficult.
