By the way my holiday was made complete tonight with a dinner date with Frances Bavier. Even at her age, her legs are still something to behold. :D

I have to say that being escorted into a Dairy Queen on the arm of LRCW really made my night. I do believe that when we left, they were on the phone ordering more ice cream from the distribution center. I think I heard the manager whispering something about there being a "run on the store's supply" ....

As for the game, I have to say that Boyd played better tonight (overall) than they did yesterday. Casey Branham looked pretty good (believe me when I say that it comes from his mother's side of the family), and has a very good looking stroke when he gets a chance to square up. He knocked down some huge bombs to keep Boyd in the game. Now, if he could just get a trim on that hairdo ...

First time I saw Selby, and I have to say that that is one W-I-D-E load. He moves extremely well for a kid that size, with good hands and excellent feet. Boyd County needs to get him into a helmet this summer. If I had him on the line, I'd put him at guard and run traps behind him all night long. No kid alive would want to take that behemoth on more than once. Nice shot for a big man. A lot to like.

I also have to agree with those that say Boyd is a much better team this year than last. This group plays together, and will certainly improve as the districts approach.

All that said, it was nice to get to watch Ashland twice in the last two days, and to see what "Buddyball" is like. These kids all look to score, and they all appear to have the green light. Very unselfish, and they played hard for the two games I got to watch.

Of course, Madison Central looks like a real test coming up tomorrow night.

It was great to get back home and see so many old friends. It makes the drive back down I-64 tough, knowing it will be a while before I get to come back home.

Who does Boyd play next in the AIT ?

Who does Boyd play next in the AIT ?

Boyd Co. will play 16th region foe Rowan Co. for the AIT 3rd place game. The game will start at 7pm tonight.

LRCW isnt it past your bedtime???

Two things as I walk away from this game.

1. Madison Central will be a tough matchup they were long and athletic.

2. If Selby played football a college education would be paid for him. Why doesn't he play?

If the Lions or Tomcats dont win the 64th someones head should roll. No way Fairview or Rose Hill can compete with the big boys

I wouldn't count out Rose Hill just yet. Good win for Ashland. They are starting to get on a roll.

Congrats to the Tomcats on the win.

He played year before last and was a force already. Last year, I heard he missed too many practices or something to that effect.

He's a legitimate D1 prospect on the field IMO.

I agree. He is large and in charge. Very agile for a young man his size. Excellent footwork.

Nobody is counting Rose Hill out of anything. I believe the original post was simply an attempt to place the monkey on Boyd and Ashland's back. Rose Hill is (unquestionably) a strong contender for the Region title, much less the District.

Nice win for the Tomcats - congratulations.

Sorry I missed you Frances.

Could someone who was at the game tell me how the officiating was ? Dicky complained about it all night. Thats normal. However, he complained about it not only when calls went against Ashland, but mentioned several times that Boyd was getting the short end of the stick as well. I dont think a game goes by that Dicky Martin doesnt complain about the refs, but that was honestly the first time I had ever heard him mention bad officiating for both teams. Was it really that bad ?

Pretty uneventful IMO. A few walking no calls, player control, etc..

Seemed even to me. I think the overall officiating for the tourney has been solid. I think they have let them play pretty physical, which I think is a good thing. Ticky tack fouls drive me crazy, and as close as I am I could walk.:D

Dickie Martin was complaining? Surely ye jest.

It was awful, IMO.
