Big cats on the prowl in Hebron for district duel

Table Setter: At the outset of the season, who would've thought this contest would be the game of the week in NKY and one of only a handful of games between ranked teams in the state? But here we are, with Cooper and Conner both exceeding expectations and threatening to contend for a district championship.

Conner made headlines last week by not following the script and beating Highlands for the third time in five tries since the two became district mates in 2019. The Cougars got it done the old fashioned way: defense and running the football. They turned the Birds over five times and got over 200 yards rushing combined from Alex Castrucci and Alijah Thompson. 

Cooper is just a few plays away from being unbeaten, with their two losses coming by one possession each against Ryle and Covington Catholic (in 4OT). Running back Brendon Tye has played well in some of Cooper's biggest games this year - over 300 yards rushing and four touchdowns combined versus Dixie Heights and CovCath.

With both CovCath and Highlands vulnerable, more eyes than usual will be fixed on Cooper and Conner, this Thursday and beyond.

If anyone wants to a see a fun game this week. Come to this game, because every year these two teams battle it out in very exciting games that come down to the end. 

I'll go with Cooper by 7.

This is an even bigger rival for Cooper than Ryle. This game almost always comes down to who has the ball last. This will be a 3-7 point win for Cooper this year.
