Both of those are solid divisions. Losing Texas and Oklahoma are huge financially but the four schools being added bring quite a bit to the table when it comes to competing. I think the move being made by the Big 12 is the absolute right decision.

Seeing Cincinnati and West Virginia play regularly in all sports has the makings of developing a really good rivalry.

Reports are BYU will for sure start in 2023, while the other three might not come in until 2024. It has to do with when Oklahoma and Texas leave. My guess is the lawyers from both sides will spend a good bit of time (and money) expediting the process for all involved.

Saw this today on The Athletic:

Those coaches also collectively are throwing some shade at Texas and Oklahoma on their way out.

“Neither one of those has won a championship since when?” one coach asked. Texas did win the conference tournament this year, but its last regular season title was in 2008 — shared with Kansas. The Sooners haven’t won the conference since 2005 when the coach, coincidentally, was Houston’s Kelvin Sampson.

Another coach pointed out that UCF won a tournament game in 2019, Cincinnati won one in 2018 and Houston is coming off a Final Four.

“All of them have done something Texas hasn’t done in the last seven years,” he said, meaning win a NCAA Tournament game.

 

 

Looking like the conference might not be finished and may elect to add two more to stay at 14 after OU and TX leave:
