Think this team would win a couple???

I think you would have to consider placing Patrick Newman on that all Trinity team....even though they still wouldn't stand a chance.

Note: See post #20. You called me out and I responded. Just because you do not agree with me does not automatically make me wrong. I take nothing away from the Penn team. I love college and pro football but this is a high school thread, and I stand by my opinion that an ALL TRINITY team would be competitive. I meant to spur some discussion on the subject not argument. I apologize for that.

Mexi-good thread until...

Enough of the Trinity bashing. I seriously doubt that Joe Montana sits around and talks about his Penn state championships. I want to know who else in Kentucky besides Phil Simms at QB, Grimm and Jacoby at OL, Shawn Alexander and Paul Horning at RB have super bowl ( or NFL championship) appearances? Or just All Pro in the NFL?

Bubba Paris, Will Wolford, Carwell Gardner... off the top of my head.

Add Mo Moorman (St. X., Texas A&M, and Kansas City Chiefs) to the list. Mo won his Super Bowl Ring playing starting guard on Coach Hank Stram's Chiefs team which took the measure of Fran Tarkenton and the Vikings.

Call me crazy but if we are only talking about "high school" accomplishments, I could come up with an all time Trinity team that could hold their own against this Penn team. Look at ROCKS All Staters since 1968 and you just might agree. We have had some dominating players on both sides of the ball.

Crazy:thumb:

Some fine high school football names on the list but I really cannot believe that this thread went that direction. I guess I should have just figured it (as many, many others) would end this way.

How is this post "calling you out"? I just stated that the thread was and should have been about the greatness of the players compiled on the Pennsylvania team. Nothing more, nothing less. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, you are correct. Just wish the focus of "some" of these threads could remain on the original subject. You could have suggested a few former Trinity standouts in particular spots for comparison. That is my opinion. Also, in my opinion, you provided a list a many fine football players at the high school level and the original team offered up from PA were fine high school, college and professional football players. Did any of those players besides the Gardners or Raible play at the professional level? I am seriously asking because I don't know for sure about the rest of the list. If we are going to discuss this I can offer up some vialble discussion.

Here's what I have so far for Kentucky high school players, 1)who played in the Super Bowl, or 2) born in KY who made the hall of fame, now I'll drop back to those who played in the NFL and see how far we get to completing the list. Please hit me back and I'll fill in the list. FYI, Pennsylvania has the most players born in Pa that made the NFL Hall of Fame.

Tigercat, the Lehman you are looking for here is "Ken", who played his college ball at Xavier in Cincinnati before the school dropped the sport. His younger brother, "Bob", was also a Flaget graduate who went on to be a 1st Team AP All-American at ND in 1963. Bob turned down the NFL to pursue his Master's Degree in Engineering.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOUR WONDERFUL FAMILY!...GO TIGERS! :thumb:

QB-Rick Norton-Flaget, UK, Miami Dolphins.

FB-Lee Bougess-Shawnee, UL, Philadelphia Eagles.

LB-Joe Federspiel-DeSales, UK, New Orleans Saints.

Tigercat, Dicky Lyons played for the New Orleans Saints. Lehman's first name, I think, was Bob.

SHAMROCK69, we don't think you are crazy, but like many, your heart may be speaking for you. I have seen many of the players you list play, and I know some. Consider QB alone: Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, Joe Namath, Jim Kelly, George Blanda, Jeff Hostetler, Dan Marino, Johhny Lujack, Don Strock...vs. Brian Brohm. Do you think that anyone other than a fellow Shamrock would see this as competitive?

Lehman's first name, I think, was Bob.

As I mentioned above, the correct Lehman here is actually Ken and not Bob. Bob was better known because of his All-American status at ND, but he chose not to play in the NFL. Bob's older brother Ken (the Xavier University graduate) was a "Bednarik-type" of player who earned most of his reputation for his long illustrious career in the Canadian Football League (CFL as Tigercat noted).

Dale Lindsey, Bowling Green HS / WKU, played his entire career with the Cleveland Browns.

Romeo Crennel, Ft Knox / WKU, Head Coach Cleveland Browns and has several SuperBowl rings as the D-Coordinator for the New England Patriots.

Virgil Livers - Nelson Co / WKU, Played several years with the Chicago Bears.

Robert Reynolds , Bowling Green HS, Currently a Tennessee Titan.

QB-Rick Norton-Flaget, UK, Miami Dolphins.

FB-Lee Bougess-Shawnee, UL, Philadelphia Eagles.

Thanks Diogenes, I'm glad someone thinks I'm not completely nuts. Now let me say it one more time. Every QB you mention was a trememdous player. The best who have ever played pro ball, but I think that everyone is looking at their entire careers not high school only. All I am saying is that Brian Brohm's "HIGH SCHOOL" accomplishments puts him in the same company. He was a national player of the year, three state titles, the #1 rated quarterback his senior year, and some scouting services say he might be the #1 overall NFL pick if he has a good showing in the Orange Bowl and declares early. How many QB's on your list can say all that? Remember, I'm only looking at his prep years. How can anyone say that he could not be competitive?

Brohm I'll definitely give you. It's when you put up the Trinity All-stars vs the PA All-Century team that you lost me.
