This year's schedule is ranked 21st most difficult in the Sagarins and will go even higher after they play Clemson. How hard should the schedule be? Top 10?

For a team with consecutive losing seasons, that's a pretty tough schedule :lol:.

Playing highly ranked opponets doesn't make the easy opponets harder.

If you play teams ranked #1, 2, and, 3 and then play teams ranked 117, 118, and 119 you more than likely going to win three games even if your the 116th best team, but the schedule strength will be inflated.

 

UK altered thier schedule (good bye IU hello Lou Monroe) to be bowl eligible, this isn't a secret.

 

Georgia was bad this year, I don't care about the program strength, the team was bad.

 

Brooks did nothing he shouldn't have done. Funny how one season of mediocrity can erase the past and continuing (Where's the D?) blunders.

Mediocrity? :laugh: Are you serious? This is far above medocrity for the UK Football Wildcats. This was a GREAT season for UK's football team. Many of the games they won this year, were games they lost last year.

I think it is fine that they did what they were supposed to. It means they are playing competitively. I don't think doing what your "supposed to do" should garner award in lieu of a history of underperforming.

 

Defining the UK season as "great" is inaccurate. Brooks isn't capable of building the program to a level that can win the SEC East, therefore I think this extension is a poor overeaction to a little positivity.

Well, I'm happy for UK and Coach Brooks. As someone who's defended him every year, while the majority of his fan base have bashed him, I REALLY feel delighted for him!

 

He's finally in a position to prove he's much, MUCH better than UK fans give him credit for. He's not had one iota of opportunitiy until now to do so, and he absolutely deserves his shot to do so.

 

I don't care what kind of "padding" was done to the schedule. UL took a long route to where they are now, including the stint in the C-USA. They played on Thursday nights, they played some really weak links. But it's paid off in spades. UK can't do anything about their football conference. The SEC is what it is. They're better off scheduling their OOC games to be potentially winnable, than to schedule powers who will pound their self-confidence and make it even more difficult for them to stay motivated for the tougher games.

 

All you detractors just let it go! Let the man prove what he can do!

Because of Ohio, IU, winless against your rival, watching Lou Mon chase you in scoring, not properly preparing for teams you should smack around, quiting when the score gets out of hand, letting the score get out of hand.....

 

A winning season is good, but it shouldn't wipe away all the problems. UK football fans are much to forgiving for incompetence.

 

 

Who said it wiped away all of the problems? There are still problems at UK, just as there are still some problems everywhere in the nation. UK fans because the program is improving...something that hasn't happened in a while.

Good point. They also lost a couple games they could have won, i.e. Tenn., South Carolina. Brooks has things going in the right direction and hopefully that will continue.

Did the program really improve or did the difficulty and the expectations reduce. I think both do play a part, however I think the expectations are so low that your excited about renewing a contract of coach who has performed poorly throughout his tenure.

 

The fact is that the program would have improved do to certian situations (i.e. scholarships, and schedule changes) over time regardless of who the coach was. Another fact is that Rich Brooks has always pointed to the fact that he had less talent then the teams he was playing as a reason for losing, when the reality of the SEC is that he will always have less talent than the top teams in the SEC. Also the fact that he has a string of losses to teams he was more talented than doesn't make the future look any brighter with him at the helm.

I stated earlier this year that Coach Brooks is exactly what UK needs right now. Get the program on solid ground for the next few years then hand it over to a young gun who can take it up another level. Way to go Coach B you deserve the extention and all the credit you get for a job well done.

I see it completely differently....Brooks won more games than anyone thought they would at the beginning of the year...Even the most optimistic fans thought 7-5 was a best case scenario with most people calling for 5-7 or 6-6 at best...Anyone can downgrade the Ga win, but, Ga beat 2 very strong teams in Auburn and Ga Tech, and defeated them handily...They did lose to Vandy but the Commodores gave alot of teams a scare including Florida & Michigan, who are #2 and #3 teams in the country...CMich proved to be a solid win, after looking at what they did this year...The SCar and Tn games could have gone either way and theres not too many years you could say that...UK played with Florida well till late in the 3rd and 4th qtrs...The only real poor performances were against LSU and UL, who, are both Top 5 BCS caliber teams..
