Griffey breaks left hand

Featured Replies

Yeah, because it's so easy to run when you have a broken big toe.... [/quote

He didn't break it and I played football with guys in high school that had turf toe and played. Griffey seperated his second toe (not the big one) and was listed as day to day. That was September 4th and he never returned even though they were in it until the last weekend. Also, he hasn't ran to first base in 3 years so what does running have to do with it. I've been a HUGE supporter of Griffey's and had countless arguements about his effort, training, and the injury battles he's had. I can't defend sitting in a pennant race because of a bad toe(not the big one). That's a joke.

Just amazing the a player of Jrs ability and stature doesn't try to give it a go in pennant race games. Have to question his desire and competiveness. Silver Spoon syndrome?

Griffey's like Samuel Jackson in Unbreakable :D

That toe injury has sidelined many, many players in many sports. If it was the big toe, that is the basis of what you push off from in sprinting, hitting, running, anything you do.

I would not overlook it and dismiss it so easily. If it was such a big issue, I believe some player would have come out and ripped him on the issue.

I heard he was shaking hands with his son when it happened.

I'm not sure any of them cared:creepy:

It wasn't.

This is horrible. How does one guy have such bad luck ? And knowing his injury past, a broken hand will eventually turn into his had falling off.

CINCINNATI -- Ken Griffey Jr.'s broken left hand is healing as expected, and the Cincinnati Reds will have a better idea in about 10 days whether it will interfere with spring training.

Griffey had the hand X-rayed over the weekend in Orlando, Fla., where he lives in the offseason. He will be examined again in about 10 days, the team announced Monday.

Is it just me? I saw Ginn (also a "Junior", in an ironic twist) on the sidelines on crutches during last night's game and saw quite the resemblance to Junior Griffey.

This all sounds so familiar. In 10 days they'll tell us he'll be ready for Spring Training. Then in Spring Training they'll tell us he'll be ready for the season. Then in April we'll get the All-Star break. At the All-star break we'll hear about how everything is almost 100% and how Griffey wants to play. Then in September they'll announce that the break will require season ending surgery.
