Just to be clear. Are you telling a 40 year old big league veteran what he thinks and what he doesn't???

I don't think anyone is going to try and argue that Rollins isn't a better offensive player than Gonzalez.

I just wish someone, could announce 1-2 starting pitcher signings.....

It said they might have him play first and bat against lefties, but last year he only hit .269 against them. That's nothing to special to have. Reds made a bad move IMO.

Hatte only hit .231. Who else would you have gone after at the same price Mr GM???

We sign an over-the-hill 1st baseman to platoon with our other aging alternative Hatteberg...Meanwhile, our neighbors to the north, the Brewers, are signing Jeff Suppan. Jeez.

Well for one the Reds could have looked into trading for Adam LaRoche. The Braves are shopping him and the Reds could have packaged Ryan Freel or Denorfia with some pitching. Not saying it would be done, but it could have been a thought to consider. Braves also have Scott Thorman who is major league ready.

Conor Jackson from the D-Backs hit .296 against lefties.

I'm just saying there could have been more potential players out there rather than what they got. Who knows how it'll work out though.

"It’s a little bit of a surprise, a couple days before Christmas, to get the call from Pat Gillick. [/i]

I guess Conine was a last minute, doorbuster special.

They would have had to give up far more to get any of them. They traded away marginal position prospects for a proven role player...

I'm just saying that those were possibilities and for the trade with the Braves, JS is looking to trade LaRoche and in return acquire a leadoff hitter that is an outfielder, and bullpen help, whether it be AAA players or major league players. I don't know much about the Reds farm system but that was just a scenario I was throwing out there.

I just think given a little more time the Reds could have made a better move to get some 1st base help, thats all!

I don't want to point fingers at anyone, but until the Reds get rid of Griffeys 12 million dollar salary, we aren't getting any big time pitchers.

It's 9 million....

This deal wasn't a bad trade, but it does nothing to improve the team, thus why do it?

I thought Conine was in a retirment home down in Florida?

Any of these names excite you????

There's a long list of serviceable pitchers unsigned: Tony Armas, Keith Foulke, Dustin Hermanson, Dan Kolb, Tomo Ohka, Chris Reitsma, Arthur Rhodes, Scott Schoeneweis and Ron Villone.

I bolded the word that sends tingles through me as a Red fan.:irked:

Conine will probably see most of his time in RF due to Griffey and Freel being injury prone.
