A) Tickets you dont need to buy 4 tickets for all the games, just get two and split them up. And buy two more if you want to make a family event to a couple of the games.

B) Tank park and ride.

C) You can take drinks and food into the game.

D) Why do you need souvineers? At most they shouldnt cost more then 20 bucks.

It comes down to how much you want to spend. The tickets to the game are 20 bucks for pretty good seats. All the rest comes down to the family it is really not that expensive.

 

A) You have to buy 4 tickets to take your family. You can't buy two and pickup two more. You'll have to sell those two and buy 4 in order to sit together. And at $20 per ticket as you say, that's $80 right there for a family of 4.

B)It's an option, but it's still going to cost about $12. (Not sure on the cost per individual for the park and ride, so I'm assuming $1.50 per person each way as I believe that is the standard bus fare.)

C) What's the experience of going to the ballpark if you don't get a hot dog, peanuts, or frosty malt?

D) It's part of the experience for the kid. One isn't needed every time, but you can't say NO 10 or 20 times a year, can you?

 

There are many ways to cut costs, but taking a family to a Reds (or Bengals) game is expensive no matter how you do it.

Or the fans owe the Reds Organization either. I will stay at home and listen to the game on the radio for free while I tinker around the house, mow the lawn, toss baseball with my son in the front yard, hit chips with my daughter in the backyard, or some other activity that is better than feeding the $$$$$$$ habits of today's sports leagues/teams/athletes.

I have wondered that because I have never, ever been involved in one of the ratings systems, so how do they know I am listening with it being an educated guess to them.

It's all an educated guess, and that's what companies buy on. If you fell that's your way "around the system" you are being more than hypocritical...

Not sure it is. If the Reds averaged in the low teens next year per game despite their record would that not be sending the strongest possible message to the Reds.

 

Take it even a step further, is not the most logical and realistic way the fans can send a message to the athletes/teams through attendance IN THE STADIUM.

Most of the revenue is in the radio and TV deals along with market sharing checks from MLB. Sure it would hurt a little if attendance drops, but no where near what you think...

$$$ wise, I understand it but the visual message that it sends.

 

Not sure that you can make a statement through the media revenues especially a short-term, immediate message.

 

For example, let's say (and btw, it will NEVER happen), opening day doesn't sell out by a noticeable margin. I think that would be sending a strong message to the REds organization about how they handled the opening day tickets. In their pocketbooks, it would be like a quarter dropping out of my pocket, but the message of NOT selling out Opening Day would be strong. IMVHO.

For the record, I have no problem with this. Anyone upset about this is probably not a true Reds fan anyway and it would probably be better for a real fan to get an Opening Day ticket anyway.

I agree. Go try to buy a single regular season ticket for most NFL teams. Or most top flight college football teams. If you don't buy a season ticket, then you must scalp. Why baseball has not tied this in with a ticket pack I'll never know.

I hope they do offer a ten game package. I had the twenty game package for a few years; but it just got to the point where I didn't want to go to that many games. The ten game package would be just about right. I'm sure a lot of people will feel the same way, and they'll sell well.
