Who will be the next head Tiger? Is still a top 5 job in Western Kentucky!

You have to wonder if the soon to be whispers of the merger of Christian county and Hopkinsville will limit the quality of applicants for this job?

Former girls coach Anthony Babb has been appointed interim coach. He just resigned as the girls coach a week ago per burnout. He did a fair job as the girls coach but did not set the bar very high. I think this job will get several top applicants but you never know what they will do. Christian County filled their two coaching jobs this year with second rate candidates.  Will be interesting to see if The Tigers mess up and make a terrible hire to keep up with the crosstown rivals?

Lots of 2nd rate candidates hired this year in several sports! 

At least the get a chance to prove themselves.

Hoptown's in a tough position here. There is a lot of uncertainty as to what is going to happen with the consolidation of CCHS and HHS. Coach Babb, a standout player back in the day at CCHS, was the long time assistant head coach for Tim Hayworth. The last four years (before Babb took the head girls job) they went 123-17, four straight regional championships, three final fours, and a state title game.  Doesn't mean he'll have anywhere near that much success, but he's been part of a very successful culture at HHS.

What year did the Tigers play in a championship game? I thought they only made it to one semi final game?

You would be correct, one final four, no title game when they made it to the state tournament.  Coach Miller had them close last year as I think they lost in OT.

I am hearing several names to be interviewed next week. Coach Babb, former coach at Dawson Jim Hicks and Robert Amis have applied. There is a coach out of Louisville that is a head coach that has applied. May be a couple of more that names have not got out.

Hearing one assistant coach on the staff pulled out at the last minute. Did not get a name so the list has dwindled!

Offer has been made as of yesterday evening. Will see if it will be accepted or will Hopkinsville have to go to their #2.
