December 22, 200619 yr They should discontinue basketball. That's awful... Why? They are in a transition period of moving from Division II to Division I. They aren't in a conference since teams can't immediately join, so they've had to play an independent schedule. They have likely played more tough road games against Top 25 opponents than Kentucky and Louisville over the last four seasons. In fact, just look at some names from this year's schedule: @Illinois, Massachusetts, @North Carolina State, @Iowa State, @West Virginia, @Louisville, @Marquette, @Nebraska. Savannah State is struggling to build a Division I program with limited resources. They are playing tough games to earn money to help establish the program. Discontinuing would do nothing.
