What is the Mascot going to be? Please don't say Tigers, Wildcats, Eagles or any of the now muted through overuse mascots.

Pride is way cooler. Lions at least isn't too overused as wildcats and tigers.

Gotta wonder if they're going to jack the FC Cincinnati logo.

They are the Lions I believe.

Officially, Moore and The Academy at Shawnee are both 6-12 schools and J. Grahm Brown is K-12 in JCPS.  Brown does not offer football, but does offer basketball, volleyball, etc.  None of the schools allow football players to play up since JCPS has middle school football.

Thank you! Good info right there.

I'm assuming that's a self-imposed policy, since there are other public schools in the state that do allow middle schoolers to play up on freshman and froshmore teams. As far as I know, the school's I've seen doing that only do so on a occasion...it's not like there are 5 or 6 kids each year playing up. More like maybe a couple, if any. Seems like it's something that, if used correctly, would make for a great developmental tool.

With JCPS having "open enrollment" for its schools, there are no feeder high schools.  Middle school students are not guaranteed to go to any high school except their resides area school.

Ahh, shows what I know. I knew that JCPS was open enrollment with the magnet system in place and everything, but I had assumed that in the case of Moore (which was the only 6-12 I was aware of previously), if a student was in their middle school, they had a straight shot available to move up into their high school.

Thanks again for the clarification.

This is not completely true. For example, Barret Traditional Middle School kids are guaranteed entry into Male and Johnson Traditional Middle School kids are guaranteed entry into Butler. Kids enrolled in Brown before high school are guaranteed entry into the high school.

JCPS has made their student assignment plan so complicated that very few generalizations apply to every situation. I suspect the Dubois kids will be allowed to continue into high school at Dubois if they choose.

They are on both St. X and Trinity’s freshman schedule. Looks like they are hitting the ground running.

They are the Lions. I found some pics of the middle school football team wearing the jerseys.

I’m not sure what they’re enrollment will be and what class they will play in. I’m going to guess 3A or lower. Guess in couple of years will know.
