CR, the space by the first base line is for the Soccer and Lacrosse Field which will be natural turf. It's just been powerseeded. The new Basketball Arena will be located behind the west end of the home side of the football stadium, and to the left of the new Fieldhouse as you are facing it. If you go to saintx.com and then hit Project X on the front page, Glen Hubbuch has drawn an early architectural rendering of the total complex, including the new Basketball Arena.

I know varsity football is at PJCS - I have enjoyed PJCS and hope to keep it there. :laugh: My original question was, Where do the Visitors sit? It looks really odd with no (few) seats on the visitors side of the stadium.

17, it's been discussed on here already. There is room for a little less than 1,000 on the visitors' side. Other than Male, and Trinity games (and occasionally Manual) there won't be a need for that many visitors' seats. We'd rather have the large X crowd all together, rather than spread out on two sides. For games that need more than 1,000 for visitors, both taramacs have enough room for temporary bleachers to be set up and there will be plenty of standing room around the track.

Outside of a few games a year, it seems like enough seating to me. The kids that come like to walk around, anyway, they mostly don't sit in the stands. I think the biggest strain will be hosting playoff games, but if there are plans for temporary seating then it should be ok.

Sorry about the repeat didn't catch it earlier. I still believe it looks odd. With the amount of land over there you would have thought it would be possible to have a more balanced looking field. What about teams like Montgomery Bell - St. X Cincy - Elder - Bowling Green. I would think some of them would travel well? I seriously doubt - other than opening night (or year) that you will have 5000 St. X fans on a regular basis coming to a game that the opponent only brings 800or less - I just think you shortchanged yourself and the opponents. The stands look like a Major College Stadium on the home side - and a Grade School field on the other. Just my opinion

FYI - I am happy for St. X that you have your own facility. The turf looks great on the football and baseball facility.

We couldn't move the stadium any further towards the parking lot due to the number of required spots. Additionally, a basketball arena will eventually be placed next to the fieldhouse, which will take up even more space. We did what we could with the space and regulations.

 

X will have about 50% more seating than T (not counting standing room and temporary bleachers if needed). If you think space is at a premium at X, I can't imagine how bad you must think it is on Shelbyville. There, the home fans have to sit on two sides, while at X, if the visiting team brings more than 1,000 fans, they'll have to stand around the track or sit on the home side. Seems like you all have the bigger problem, as you'll fill your home side more frequently than we'll need extra room for visitors...

 

Projections I've heard for opening night are around 9,000. There's not another big draw team until Cov. Cath comes to town in November, but by that time, weather will keep some away. In '08, X gets LexCath, Male and Manual at X.

I wasn't talking about Trinity - I thought we were talking about X's new facility. But since you brought it up. We have had 9,000 plus several times at Marshall Stadium with no problems. I really can't say if we have a whole lot of home fans on the visitor side - but probably - I can't speak for the administration but have to believe Trinity could have made the visitor side smaller and the home side larger - but it would look stupid if you were trying to build a "state of the art facility". :laugh:

X had some legal issues (easements) that arose after construction ( I hope) that hampered the facility's aesthetics. It still will be state of the art. Most importantly, it will be a great surface for the Tigers to play on, as well as a true home field.

I think the finished product will be state of the art - I appreciate you explaining the easment issues - All I was asking is why is the visitors side so small and I kept getting defensive answers. If there was a reason for the problem just say so and quit rationalizing.

I tried to provide a very detailed response which explained why things were the way they were in post #160 on page 4. Many others also provided some response to your queries on pages 3 and 4. These were not defensive, but factual responses; but obviously you didn't bother to either read or accept them.
