If they were going to at least try to take another step forward. It may or may not work, but rather than stay content for where they are at. Stoops is making the move that needed to be made, to try to find away to keep moving forward.
December 6, 20205 yr Stoops wants someone to open up the offense more. Could we see one of these two walking the sidelines at South Carolina next season?
December 6, 20205 yr Author Shannon Dawson, Eddie Gran, Stoops needs to get this one right or else I don’t think vilifying them will save his own job will it? I’m still trying to calibrate expectations at UK though, some already want Stoops out.

I’m not convinced he wants someone to open up the offense. Neal Brown and Gran weren’t/aren’t thought of as conservative OCs. Both offenses always felt a little off. It will be interesting to see what/who they bring in.
December 6, 20205 yr In order to "open up" the offense you need players that can accomplish that. Gran and Hinshaw were far from conservative play callers in previous jobs. They both will land on their feet somewhere.
December 6, 20205 yr According to Stoops both he and Eddie Gran had been talking about this for the past several weeks and they mutually agreed to part ways. Per ESPN.
December 6, 20205 yr Eddie was doing what Stoops wanted. Last year was out of necessity due to injuries. I think last night is a perfect example of what Stoops wants. 43 rushes for 291 yds. 26 pass attempts for 201 yds. 62% runs 38% passes. That is the balance he wants with a lean to the run. I wished he had gave Eddie one more year. I think the struggles in the passing game was a combination of Terry not being fully confident, receivers not consistently getting separation, other than Josh Ali, and some head scratching calls at key points during the games. Good luck to Eddie.

December 6, 20205 yr Tim Beck (NC State OC) Kevin Joseph (Memphis OC) Cal Gundy (Oklahoma OC) James Cooley (Texas A&M TE) Kevin Wilson (OSU OC) Mike Bobo (South Carolina OC) Garrett Riley (SMU OC)

December 6, 20205 yr Stoops has been through three OCs here thus far IIRC and each time it seems like the offense happens to get locked into the same conservative mindset. I just have a hard time believing Gran was responsible for the woes, but I do agree that Hinshaw needed to go because of a poor record of QB development here. However, I've also heard they were a package deal so I guess this had to happen, but I'm not happy with losing Gran.
