AI plays basketball at 31 the way Jr. did at 21(hard). I guess it's because baseball is so much more physically demanding than basketball....... uh oh.....

Do you think AI wouldn't run out a ground ball? Do you think he wouldn't try to stretch a single to a double? I'm not sure practice and a position change have anything in common. I'm also 100000000000000000 percent sure AI would participate in a pennant race with a hurt toe. AI skipped 1 practice and that's where the practice quote was taken from. He does practice.

 

I won't rip a guy who doesn't practice hard but plays the game 100%.

As far as the effort category, not sure that AI goes as hard on defense as he needs to go.

 

And how many run-ins did he have with Coach Brown where he balked on doing what Coach Brown asked him to do.

 

One does not do what the coaches ask him to do and you defend him. The other is asked to consider it and he is ripped. Just pointing out a inconsistency.

Didn't Iverson have several, gun related incidents off the court and as for "practice" (17)....hasn't he missed it on more than one occasion.

 

I'm with LBBC, he doesn't have a sparkling image and this is entirely speculation but I don't see Wade and Iverson, co-existing on a basketball court, with only one synthetic ball....

Did you miss the thread where the NBA is getting rid of the new ball? That may solve the problem.

For completely different things. When AI moved from the point to the 2 there was NO problem. Griffey will consider a move.

Yeah someone robbed hi family and he had a gun. He also had a gun in his car. I'm sure he's missed several practices over the year, but the comments were about 1 practice.

YEP but not 82 games per year but just a handful, that is why I said not sure. And I see him taking chances on steals and getting them but locking down an opponent and denying them the ball or preventing them from getting a shot off, don't see it. I see him taking chances and resting to get ready for the offense.

 

I like 90% about AI. I don't like the attitude. I like the game and understand the need to take shots because he is the focus and don't have a problem with it.

 

I think he could be one of the top 5 players all time if his shot selection and defense was better. Given the right supporting cast, I think he would make Steve Nash look like a 2nd rate player.

 

I even understand the practice comments because Riley was noted for giving the stars of the 80's Lakers time off from practice to have them fresh from a game. But the attitude that "HOW DARE SOMEONE SPEAK AGAINST ME BECAUSE I AM AI." I can do without. I even would encourage him to talk to the coach and try to get him to see AI's view. But then if the coach says do it, he should do it and don't go to the media and whine. (Same thing that I said about JR. Consider it, talk to the manager about it and if the manager says do it, do it.)

 

He is where I am afraid Chad may end up if things go bad. BTW, I have been thoroughly impressed with how Chad has conducted himself over the last 1/2 of the season.

If I were the Heat I would include Shaq (who was utterly DOMINATING in his day, but that day is no longer), but there is NO WAY that the Sixers would take him to a young and rebuilding team. Not even Billy King is that moronic.

If I was in that situation, I would call Larry Brown who had success and failure with him and have a heart-to-heart talk with him before I could make that call.

Well I didn't read the enquire, but did he actually say he would be interested in trading Shaq for AI, or did he just say he has as much interest in getting AI...I dont think he would trade Shaq because even though its not the same kind of Shaq, Riley knows Shaq is still a great player to have come playoff time. I think they would try to trade for AI, but I dont think Shaq would be in the deal...

 

I could see them maybe giving up Jason Williams, Walker, and Mourning for him. But I dont think the 76ers would take that trade. And I dont see anyway that that Heat will trade Shaq...
