December 14, 200619 yr Anyone watching this? It's some pretty entertaining stuff. It was on ESPN until 9 PM but has now switched over to ESPN Classic.
December 14, 200619 yr It is good on one hand, but stupid on another. It is entertaining to talk about all the past teams, but then they make stupid comments like, "Well, the 2005 Texas team with their 300 lb + lineman would run all over the vaunted 1961 Alabama kids whose biggest player was 230 lbs." Oh jeez, you think. The kids now are superior athetically, physically, and mentally when it comes to football. These old teams could not beat 1-AA teams of today. If they compared them to how dominating they were per era, it would make a lot more sense to me.

December 14, 200619 yr It's down to the Final Four. '95 Nebraska vs. '01 Miami '71 Nebraska vs. '05 Texas The '05 Texas team is just in the minds of everyone. They were NOWHERE near as dominating as these other teams. 1. '95 Nebraska 2. '01 Miami 3. '71 Nebraksa 4. '05 Texas
December 14, 200619 yr I think they did that last year too, and I think that as they had '05 Texas in this one, they had '04 USC in the last one. I think they made the Final Four as well. It annoys me that not only do they rehash this every year that they always put the last year's champion in there, no matter how undeserving they might be. Texas was a great team, but not all-time greats. I feel the same way about '01 Miami. They were great, possibly one of the ten best, but I've never felt they were top 4 of all-time.

December 14, 200619 yr '95 Nebraska is the best ever in a landslide. I would actually go with '71 Nebraska. They beat then #2 Oklahoma in Norman. Then crushed then #2 Alabama in the Orange Bowl (38-6). The Big 8 had the most dominating poll year of any conference ever. If memory serves the post bowl polls had 1. Nebraska, 2. Oklahoma, 3. Colorado. The only non double digit win was over that OU squad that set the all time mark for rushing yards per game. Greg Pruitt and Jack Mildren led the way. Nebraska boasted Jeff Kinney at HB, Johnny Rogers at FL (future Heisman), Jeff Tagge at QB, and on the D Line Rich Glover, John Dutton, Willie Harper and company. I know how great '95 Nebraska was and performed but I still go with the way '71 Nebraska dogged so many very good teams.

December 14, 200619 yr Previously they did one for college basketball, but I cannot remember the one for college football. I'm pretty sure they did one, and if they didn't do it in this format, I KNOW they did one where they asked where the '05 USC team would line up against past greats. I think they had them beating all of them but the '01 Miami team (which I STILL feel is overrated). And then they lost to Texas. Good call ESPN! That one can be found here: http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/story?page=uschistoryschedule

Last year's USC team was terrible defensively all season long. Anyone could see the previous year's team was better than the '05 team. Offensively, they were just as good or better, but that was about it. They still ripped Texas to shreds on offense (and Texas had a great defense); if the game would have been 30 seconds longer, they would have won, imo.
