Kentucky schools all-time

Featured Replies

You're a little off there BW.

Although St. X. was founded in 1864, the first football game was played in 1917 against Jeffersonville High School in an open space at Clay and Kentucky Streets called Lutz Park. The Tigers beat the Red Devils by a score of 20-0. Three of the starters for X were from Indiana, two from New Albany and one from Jeffersonville. This just shows that there is a long tradition of St. X. families from Southern Indiana. :thumb:

That's why I made the statement. Your response was expected. :D

Just having some fun...........:p

OneIjoe, I will correct the name. Thanks. Tell me about the additional numbers, though. Were numbers recently updated ? Is their a link to the breakout of the all-time numbers ?

The numbers I gave are the sum totals of the records I have of Prestonsburg football. I have a season-by-season listing of each year's schedule/outcome. The school's first game was played in 1925. The count includes games through the 2006 season.

It isn't on the web currently, but I've been intending to put it in digital form and make it available through Blackcatfootball.com. Sooner or later I'll get it done. Trouble is, intentions keep running smack into work demands. :creepy:

I understand the difficulty in updating stats on websites. It will take me at least 3 months before I can get all the national figures up to date. Thanks for the info. I will correct the totals for Prestonsburg.

oneijoe, does your totals reflect the forfeits from the 2003 season for Prestonsburg? Just guessing, but I thought that could be the source of the discrepancy.

South Oldham is 100-94 since 1989.

South, is that their entire history ?

That's possible. I counted the games as they were played on the field (and will keep them that way). If atalltexan is using "politically correct" records, he should have 7 fewer wins and 7 more losses than me.

Judging from the loss column, that appears to be the difference. But taking 7 wins away in the win column still leaves us 12 games apart.

I don't know what the difference is...

Anyone know Lawrence Countys record from 90 to 02?

"-Prestonburg--------------483-314-22"

The current total (and correct spelling for the school/town, btw ;) ) from 1925 through 2006 is:

-Prestonsburg-------------502-321-22

Does Prestonsburg have a web-site that shows info on former players with stats or a brief history of their high school career in all sports.

I would go with what the State athletic assn recognizes, and I assume the 7 less wins and 7 more losses is what they have, based on the discussion. Not sure of the balance of difference, but will adjust to your figures, with the 7/7 change.

If you don't mind my asking...

What is the source you used for Prestonsburg's all-time record ? (My pre-1976 info came from the archives of the Ashland Daily Independent)

As you may have noticed, I have been posting individual schools, and the info I have on them, in hopes of input on some of the missing data. Will add them to the existing State list:

(thru 2005)

-Lincoln County-----------214-149-0

I don't know if you have this info but here is the breakdown by coaches.

Bill Ed Leedy (5 seasons: 1974-1978) 20-31

Donald Wooldridge (4 seasons: 1979-1982) 38-9

Steve Sullivan (1 season: 1983) 5-6

Larry Phillips (7 seasons: 1984-1990) 59-23

Marty Jaggers (6 seasons: 1991-1996) 49-27

Tim Estes (5 seasons: 1997-2001) 31-25

Robbie Lucas (2 seasons: 2002-2003) 4-16

Larry French (3 seasons: 2004-2006) 18-14

Total (33 seasons: 1974-2006) 224-151 (.600)

Good stuff. :thumb: I wish I had some records that were complete for Boyle County.

These I know:

2000's 88-12.

1990's 76-45

1980's 47-57

1974 - 1979 50-17

The rest is very hazy. I know that the 60's saw their 2 worst records of 0-10, back to back. But the 60's also saw:

1963 9-0

1965 (?) 7-2-2

A winning team in '69 I believe.

1969 (?) 9-1-1

I only know the Rebels record from the first year of Ed Rall in '74 through today. It seems Boyle may have had a winning mark once or twice in the early 70's but I'm uncertain.

'63 is the first year of football for the Rebels. If someone knows other years and marks that would be a help. I think Boyle actually has a winning record in all games played but don't know for sure what the % is.

I would like to know the actual records to refute the notion that Boyle was somehow never a good program before Chuck Smith. In fact, when Smith came he embraced the program that Boyle had in the late 70's and early 80's and used it as a reference to inspire the kids that they could be winners. Of course he then took them to a different stratosphere. :thumb:
