Anyone ever visited Toronto?

Featured Replies

My wife and I are headed there in April for her to speak at the American Academy of Neurology's annual meeting, so aside from sitting in on her presentation, I'm going to be doing some sightseeing for a few days. I've never been, so I'm all ears for suggestions.

We're there from the 25th through the 30th, and I'm planning on going to the Blue Jays/Red Sox game on Monday night, but other than that I'm pretty much wide open to suggestions and restaurant recommendations, in particular.

They set us up in a pretty swanky penthouse downtown (this is the actual view from the rooftop access right off the living room)...and we weren't planning on renting a car, so the closer to downtown the better.

Must hit the Oyster Boy.

T.O. is a great town, beautiful, incredibly diverse, and a great place to kick around in for a few days.

If you like Italian, I'd hit Evoo as well. It isn't cheap, but some of the best Italian food I've ever had.

One of the cool things about Toronto is they have ethnic focused communities. There is a Chinatown, a Greek community, a little Italy area, etc. From what I recall all of those communities are pretty close to the downtown area. I like Toronto.

You may not be able to squeeze this in but you are just a couple of hours away from Niagara Falls if that is of interest.

Just got my passport this week. Toronto is definitely on my list.

I was there many years ago. I remember it as very ethnic, cool shops and restaurants, something interesting on every corner. We did he needle thing, but it was a really long wait.

I went there back in high school in the 90s. From what I remember:

- Car got broken into while touring the Skydome, and the attendant at the lot saying "Sorry, it happens all the time." in his Indian accent.

- Police officers not carrying guns, at least the ones that showed up to take the report.

- Men literally pulling their cars up onto the sidewalk to talk to hookers while cops on horseback road on by.

- Being able to drink a beer at the age of 16 if in a family establishment with your parents consent.

- Most Mercedes, BMWs, Jaguars, etc I've ever seen in one area driven by young adults, which according to locals was a status thing, no matter how far in debt they would get themselves into.

Needless to say, our 2 day trip up there was an eye opener for a 16 year old kid from Kentucky. Lol.

I've been to Woodbine Race Track on two occasions but did not spend any time downtown.

Used to go there a lot for work. The thing I remember being surprised about was number of attractive women there. It was way more than NYC which I travelled to for work as well.
