BGP QOTD: What's your favorite cafeteria food?

I always complained about the food that was served in our school's cafeteria, but I honestly can't think of a meal I didn't like. I guess if I had to pick a favorite it would be chicken fried chicken, chicken nuggets, or chicken patties, mashed potatoes, green beans and rolls. Like I said, I enjoyed all the meals they served.

School lunch cafeteria food is disgusting. Talk about the epitome of what we daily should not be putting in our bodies. It is nothing to be proud of. This is me now talking as an adult, so that said.....

I used to dominate the rectangle pizza. Often times paired with french fries and if I was feeling froggy, a cheeseburger. We also had a taco Tuesday a couple times a month the entire school would lose their minds over. All with milk, of course.

RE: Milk. This got me thinking back to the phase when we were served milk in the plastic pouches for a while. :lol2:

Trinity had some pretty solid cafeteria food back in the day. I was a brown-bag-lunch kind of kid, but I made a point of checking out the lines when it was chicken patty sandwich day or chalupas.

Chicken Patty day was a madhouse.

Chicken Patty day was a madhouse.

Cov Cath had chicken patty day (sandwiches), and chicken patty meal day (patty/mashed potatoes/gravy). Chicken patty day was really busy, but chicken patty meal day was the real madhouse.

In my school days at Owsley County (1960-72) we didn’t have a choice of what would be on our tray. You walked through the lunch line and picked up a tray and headed to your table. Everyone had the same meal. Starting in the late 1970’s that all changed when they started having multiple foods to choose from on the serving line.

As far as my favorite food it was their brownies. Not to this day have I eaten any brownies that taste the same as those in my school years. Loved them!

Chicken nugget day was the best. It always came with a side of mashed potatoes.

Wayyyy back in the day... when Beechwood had their original cafeteria, last seen in the 70’s....Beechwood had the BEST pork and gravy sandwiches ever!
