The Holy Cross Indians (10-8) will welcome in the Holmes Bulldogs (9-12) to the Finn Activity Center on Tuesday night for a triple header. The Indians are coming off a road win at Lloyd 64-62. The Bulldogs are coming off a road win as well 79-58 over Campbell Co.

 

Who wins this 35th district seed game and why?

I think that these two teams are too close to call. They both will be ready to play with intensity given that it’s an important 35th district game, and both have shown that they’re competitive enough to at times play with, and surprise a tough opponent such as Campbell Co, who they both recently beat.

 

One thing that stands out to me when HC plays at home is that it seems that they are big time on their 3-ball game while playing with an “Our House” mentality. When they get hot they can easily boost a close affair in a flash up to a 10 point advantage making their opponent have to then play catch up.

 

With that said I think that both teams will enter this game playing for their lives, as well as for some neighborhood bragging rights, and we’ll ultimately see it go down to the wire.

 

This is one of my favorite yearly games of the basketball season because it always just has that legendary 9th Region historically deep-rooted battle thing written all over it, and is one of those goose bumpy games that makes me realize what I love about high school basketball in Northern Kentucky.

Both teams like to get up and down the floor and turn defense into offense. These are 2 of the highest scoring teams in the 9th I look for the game to be in the 70's if not 80's.

Not exactly. Holy Cross still has Beechwood left. If Holy Cross loses, they can still possibly avoid CCH in the district opener by beating Beechwood.

 

Whereas a loss by Holmes means they are the 4 seed. So no more options for Holmes if they lose tonight. The game is more important for Holmes.
