h.s.sportsrbest
"Wayne has changed," said Barton, confirming the Beattie/Krivsky scenario. "After what went on this year, I just had enough. Wayne isn't the person I thought he was." Read the whole article here
98NCCalum
Aside from Arroyo has Krivsky done ANYTHING that has even been conceived as making a "good deal"?
westsider
Aside from Arroyo has Krivsky done ANYTHING that has even been conceived as making a "good deal"?His first two big moves were Arroyo and Phillips ... I would say those were good ones.
ladiesbballcoach
Ross Some would argue not bowing to pressure to bring Homer up. Everyday Eddie till he was injured. Dumping Larue and I don't believe the Reds had to pick up much of his salary.

You mean besides Phillips, Ross, Hatteberg, and Lohse? Sorry fellas, I didn't read down to see your duplicate info.
STRIKE3
Don't need inter-office turmoil. I was fortunate to meet one of the names mentioned, Gene Bennett when he was a Reds scout and he's a first class guy then and now. I agree here, with this assessment...Barton didn't agree with the Reds carrying three catchers all year in 2006, "Then (Krivsky) trades Jason LaRue, but signs Chad Moeller. So are they going to go with three catchers again? They need pitching, not three catchers." Hopefully, they can get on the same page and make the Reds contenders, but starting pitching is a must need, in my opinion.

I thought Hatteberg was before him. Phillips was good. Ross was lucky but good. And I still want to see him and Phillips do it again before I annoint them. The Scribe
Especially if he trades Dunn for Kerry Wood, Chad Fox, or Eric Gagne.

westsider
I thought Hatteberg was signed before Krivsky came aboard. In any case, the Reds were lucky to come out well on that one. As well as the acquistions of Arroyo and Phillips went, I think the Kearns trade negated a lot of that.

Hatte was signed by Wayne in Spring Training -- not sure what system you are using to deduct good points by anothe deal. He's way up in good v. bad at this point in my opinion. westsider
In evaluating a GM's performance, you have to evaluate everything. Krivsky made some good deals and I will be the first to say that (with Phillips, I was the first to say so) ... but the Kearns deal was a big clunker. Appreciate the perspective, however, if Bray turns into a dominant closer and Kearns doesn't improve any, that last line is a BIT strong.
