Lexington Catholic 65 Beechwood 46

Final from LexCath.

The Knights controlled the game and were clearly the better team.

#33 Ben Johnson for LexCath was relentlessly incredible. Kid has a nice game.

Lexington Catholic will take on Frederick Douglass at 7:00 tomorrow night in the semis.

I was impressed with Johnson too.

I don't want to sidetrack the thread but LexCath reminds me a little of CovCath in that they both have a lot of guys that can play.

Did you see Johnson's dunk in the 2nd half?

Yes, it was killer!

Pulling for Beechwood, he was getting on my nerves he was so good. Nothing against him though as he's incredible. I just kept saying does this kid ever miss? I see that he's just a junior too.

I thought Beechwood played pretty well though. For the most part, they handled Catholic’s press and rebounded the ball well. There were stretches of the game where we matched them bucket for bucket.

I’m not sure how many Points Draud had, but he took good shots and didn’t force anything bad. I thought the two big guys for Beechwood battled in paint the whole night.

#33 for LexCath is really good.

I thought Beechwood played pretty decent.

LexCath got more easy buckets, LexCath was better with the ball, and there was definitely a stretch where LexCath benefited from the officiating but it wasn't blatant.

I would call it a quasi-competitive game.

Johnson was really good for Catholic, the Catholic press really hurt Beechwood. The best player for Beechwood, Draud didn't force anything but he wasn't able to score at all unless open from screens or Catholic losing focus on D, he was not able to create anything at all on his own. Beechwood was just outmatched all the way around.

Johnson is the real deal.

I agree Beechwood couldn't create anything on offense.

In that respect, it felt like a pickup game at a local gym, up and down the court and you either take a jumper or drive and try to throw one up.

Draud with 25, 9-19 from field.

Johnson with 26, 11-20 from field.

I thought #3 for LexCath had a solid game - 9 points, 7 assists, and 4 steals.

Ben Johnson is the real deal! It seems like he’s been playing forever because his two older brothers played and were both great players. The Johnson brothers have been represented on Catholic’s teams every year since 2010. I believe that’s when Tanner was a freshmen. Both Tanner and Luke played Division 1 basketball.

It feels like Ben Johnson has been playing forever.

He did have a brother, Luke, that played before him.
