December 6, 200619 yr not just you. Crazy to give Lugo anything near that. The contracts this year are crazy Agreed and I've said many times before, the MLB salaries are a major problem with the game and need to be corrected very soon.
December 6, 200619 yr Agreed and I've said many times before, the MLB salaries are a major problem with the game and need to be corrected very soon. It does need corrected. And the player's union won't let anything happen, anytime soon. Boy, am I in the wrong business.

Boy, am I in the wrong business. .... You're not the only one, according to the current MLB salaries, I could win 2 games as a starter and get $9mil per year. If any GM wants an old has been, who won't be effective, overweight, lost his velocity and control, but want to give him $9mil....call me.

I bought it at Hibbets.
December 6, 200619 yr Maddux just signed a 1-year deal worth $10million with the Padres. Red Sox signed J.D. Drew to a 5-year/$70millionAlso signed SS Julio Lugo to a 4-year/$36million Jason Schmidt reportedly heading to Mariners Zito down to two teams, Rangers and Mets. Rangers=more money Mets=Better playoff chances. Saw where the Cardinals signed Chris Carpenter to basically the same terms; 5 years for 60-something million. Which looks to be the better investment? Seems obvious to me.

Jim: Theo, when I was with the Reds I LOVED him. I'll tell you this, that boy has 5 tools. Break the bank to get him in the fold. Theo: Jim, his career is marked by injuries and bouts of inconsistency. You sure about this? Jim: Did you hear me? He has 5 TOOLS. Sign the boy.

December 6, 200619 yr Braves trade pitcher Horacio Ramirez to Seattle for reliever Rafael Soriano. Braves are improving the bullpen and IMO they got a steal with this trade. Braves agree to trade Adam LaRoche to the Pirates for closer Mike Gonzalez pending Gonzo is 100% healthy and that his arm is fine. Don't know if other players are involved but those are atleast the centerpieces in the deal.
December 6, 200619 yr The Braves are improving on what was a horrible bullpen last year and at the start of the '07 season will probably have one of the most feared bullpen in baseball. Let's just hope it all works out for each team!
