I've seen the twitter feed of Owsley doing a ladder workout. I know the young man wants to come back if at all possible. @ApolloFan98, I hope it happens. Put Owsley in punt return, kick return and in the slot real quick!

 

On another note, I saw an interesting tidbit, that since 2013 Owensboro has lost in the playoffs to the eventual state champion all but one year:

 

2013- Semifinals to Collins

2014 - in state final to Highlands (after OHS leading 42-21 at half)

2015 - in 3rd round Regional final to Bowling Green

2016 - in 3rd round Regional final to Bowling Green

2018 - in 3rd round Regional final To Jacob Lacey (I mean South Warren)

Confirmed that he is cleared to play - not sure what the coaches will do. This changes everything for the game. He is so quick and is a legit threat to house it anytime he touches the ball.

Owsley last year:

 

67 rushes for 712 yards and 10 TD's.

52 catches for 1066 yards and 11 TD's.

 

This doesn't include the South Warren game (no stats available). I know he took a screen to the house on them for about 65 yards and had another big run of about 40. I would guess he had 120-130 yards of offense and a TD.

That consists of 5 in shorts and tee shirt 3 in helmet and shorts and 5 in full pads. It’s known as the 5-3-5 rule. With the kid being a senior I hope has them in and can play.

That’s good that he was able to do that but only the practices before the injury would count and any after he was released by a doctor’s note would count towards the 11 total. Those. 11 would’ve started counting anytime after July 11.

@16thBBall Fan I do not see that rule anywhere in the football bylaws. I've searched eligibility and injuries, nothing for what you have mentioned. I'm open if you can show me in the bylaws for KHSAA football.

I can’t find this still. There is no bylaw 23 section 12f. It only goes to 12e. Can you link?

Thanks 16th for the link. I will say its a bit ambiguous though. The heading for that section says "between August 1st and the beginning of the season". So to me this isn't referencing an injured player, but your roster before opening the season. Also it makes no reference to being cleared for full-contact as to when these practices can start. I am impressed that you or anyone KNEW of this part of the bylaws.

Being a athletic director you have to know it. It’s for player safety. Like I said earlier if he got them in before the injury it’s fine. I think it’s amazing for someone who tore an ACL to be cleared in only 4 months. I hope he gets his chance. It would be awful to not GRC to play because of that rule. But the rule is all about player safety. Hope it all works out.

Saw the Trinity vs FD game - wow. That was a smoking. I get it was Trinity, but BG played them MUCH better. FD has come along way, I guess so has Owensboro.

The game start time has been moved up to 6:00pm instead of 7:30.

 

Why the change in game time ???
