If Hansborough did come here, then we wouldn't have gotten Wright anyways, because he wouldn't want to come and sit the bench and that is what he would have done with Hansborough and Morris in front of him...I will say this we should have been able to get one of them though, and that is why even though I dont agree with alot of you all in wanting to fire Tubby, I do agree that we need to get rid of some of the assistant coaches...

 

Hanson thinks that just because his title is assistant at UK that prospects are going to jump when he walks through the door and that is not the fact anymore. He has to work to get them and I don't think he was doing a very good job of doing that. Rigot, well, I really have no comment on him, seeing his big prize is Woo and Shagari...

I don't want to fire Tubby. I am hoping the recruiting is/will be corrected. I think Finney will certainly help. I do feel that there needs to be at least one change on the staff, though.

I'll tell you right now that Donnie Tyndall is a recruiting machine. He brought a top-20 recruiting class to Middle Tennessee State a few years ago - perhaps the same year that UK produced the Coordination Connection.

I'm actually a huge fan of the coach, system, players, and tradition, that's why I get concerned when I don't see improvements. I'll go on paper right now as saying that I absolutely love UK basketball.

 

That being said, the recruiting has been inconsistent and although Morehead will not get UK type players. I will say that in comparison to other OVC schools and other schools at MSU's level that Tyndall will outdo the competition. I think he will be more consistent at his level of recruiting than Tubby will be at UK's level - is what I'm trying to say.

Its hard to argue with someone who is that far out there. 2 of our last 3 recruiting classes have been good. The jr's class was very highly praised, but a little overrated, while the freshmen class is underrated. Both classes IMO are very good though.

I am not "that far out there" - I am a realist. They rate the recruiting classes each year and I just don't see UK getting the top 20 players. As a result, I don't see UK in the top 25 in the national rankings, either.

Recruits are based on potential and system fits. While I agree with you and many others, UK's offensive scheme is not appealing or exciting, they continue to excel in a conference which is perineally rated extremely high, in RPI and SOS schedules.

 

No offense offered, but the OVC and mid-major type of conferences, will get similar talent to some upper level D1's but the type of player, who would commit to a program like MSU, would do so because the offers weren't there from higher rated programs.

 

I'm sure he will recruit hard, to make MSU a top notch program but UK will be doing the same. Early signings and commitments, are often continual and daily in some instance. UK must devote more time to in communication, correspondence, on-site evaluation and summer observation.

If UK was his favorite, and was until the 11th hour, then he could have been a great sixth man for one year and gotten 18-22 minutes per game. But I am also just fantasizing about those 4 front court players being on the same team this year. WOW!!!
