Was this the first time a player was "expelled" from Survivor. I think they maybe could have expelled Brandon Hantz (Russell's Nephew) but if I remember right, he might have chose to leave. That episode was nuts, dude had some demons.

I believe so. Brandon's tribe forfeited an immunity challenge and voted him out on the spot after he and Phillip had several altercations. It sucks that this happened after Tribal, and cost Elaine another day or so of playing. I guess it's kind of morbid, but I wonder exactly what Dan did to get pulled from the game. It just shows how much times have changed considering how Richard Hatch's incident with Sue was dealt with, although in that case, Hatch was voted out right after the incident.

 

Considering they've been putting 16-20 strangers together on this show for 20 years, it's surprising this sort of thing hasn't happened more often.

Season 5 of Survivor had something happen very similar where Ghandia accused Ted of inappropriately grinding and who knows what at night. He claimed he was sleeping and thought it was his wife. That plays out way different in 2019.

I forgot about that one. I feel like they should have addressed the Dan thing a little stronger, a little sooner, although hindsight is always 20/20. You can definitely tell that even before this incident, the show has been more mindful of potential problems. Nudity, although not in every season, was a regular occurence. Can you imagine producers allowing two contestens stripping for Peanut Butter today, like Heidi and Jenna did in 2003?

Could be. Considering that he is runs a talent agency, this sort of negative publicity could be very harmful to his reputation and being able to make a living in his profession. Although, if the allegations from the show are true, one wonders how many people who he's done this sort of thing to that have been involved with him through his business.

I don’t really trust anything Russell has to say, but Corinne backing it up does give it credibility. I’ve always been curious as to how much control the producers have over the gameplay. I find it hard to believe it’s just coincidence that often, the castaway who needs it most, is the one that happens to find an idol.

Haha I said almost the same thing about the article. I said that Russell just wants to get his name in the news since he isn't going to be a part of Season 40 and I'm sure that he's upset because he thinks he is the greatest to ever play. Corrine comes off as someone desperate for attention to me too, but who knows.

Possibly. I understand that Idols do add an important element to gameplay, by keeping alliances from just wiping out non alliance members easily. But it just seems too easy to find idols. I can't find my keys in my living room yet people have no problem finding idols on a jungle island.

I wish the Island of the Idols twist had provided more excitement/entertainment this season. Rob & Sandra were funny at tribal, but otherwise somewhat underutilized. Possibly the whole Dan issue had something to do with it.

I don't think Survivor will dodge the Dan discussion at the final, but the fact they are filming it 4 hours before airing it will give them time to edit.

Am I the only one that is just ready to get this season over and move on to Season 40? Especially since we know what it's about?
