Hard Seltzers are taking the alcohol industry by storm, due in large part to great marketing by White Claw. Apparently more White Claws were sold in the past year than any type of craft beer.

 

There are a lot of options out there, including some locally, specifically Vive by Braxton.

 

Do you like Hard Seltzers? Have you had any?

I'm not big on seltzers but I have had a Raspberry White Claw and a Mango Braxton Vive. I can't say I hated either but didn't love them. Seltzers aren't quite for me but I can see why people like them, especially those who don't like to feel "bloated" from drinking beer.

Beer vending tidbits:

 

We've sold Bon & Viv, which is Anheuser-Busch's seltzer at Reds games. We have had a Grapefruit and then a Black Cherry flavor.

 

We sell Braxton Vive at FC Cincinnati games, typcally their Mango flavor.

 

We sell Truly at UC Football & UC Basketball games.

 

Braxton Vive is the official seltzer of the Bengals and I believe we sell Mango and Blood Orange. The Blood Orange cans are very fitting for The Jungle.

I can live with or without them. You’re 100% right about White Claw and their phenomenal marketing. They also got a massive of amount of free advertising from the guy who made the now famous, “Ain’t No Laws When You’re Drinking Claws” video. If you’re making me choose between beer and seltzer I’m still going beer 95/100 times but I do enjoy a seltzer every once in a while.

Some do. More likely in younger men.

 

For what it's worth, White Claws (really all seltzers) have a higher ABV than Bud Light and Miller Lite.

I haven't had a White Claw yet, but I can tell you they are definitely better than any craft beer you can find.

I don't mind it. I don't really think hard seltzer tastes like a whole lot of anything...but I'll admit, when my wife and I were down on the lake at Rough River a few weeks ago and it was like 97° and 85% humidity, the hard seltzer she brought was more refreshing than my Coors Light was. And that's NOT meant to say that the Coors Light wasn't refreshing...it just wasn't quite as much so as the hear seltzer.

 

My wife has kind of bought her way around all of the hard seltzers just for the sake of seeing which taste better or worse. I'll usually taste whatever she has just for my own curiosity's sake. The Bon & Viv spiked seltzer that A-B Inbev puts out has the most/best taste to it...basically whichever flavor. Truly and Henry's are straight trash and Smirnoff's seltzers are barerly a step up from those. Most of the White Claws are fine - black cherry is best. I didn't care for Braxton's hard seltzer, but I really like the Wild Basin seltzers put out by Oskar Blues. They're pricey though, and not easy to find, oftentimes.

This is a pro move right here. Mixing hard seltzer with Vodka is a solid strategy if you are trying to get a buzz really quick.
