Run it up!

Run it up!

Freshmen played from the first play of the second half on - it was 48-7 at that point. Can’t tell the young guys not to play. Somerset scored on dive plays and a scoop and score off of a bad punt snap. Not a stat padder for the ones in any capacity.

The varsity game was 48-7. The JV/Freshman game was 27-6.

I agree completely, they deserve to play too. That's why I said run it up. The full playbook is open as far as I'm concerned.

Still looking for wheatonmoco#48 to chime in after his comment on another thread about “Somerset finding out Montgomery is legit.”

Honestly, the way it looked to me from a distance, they lined up and covered the Somerset receivers one on one - that’s asking for trouble with that Somerset team. Not to mention their backfield is probably better than their receiving corps. On to the next, just looking for our guy wheatonmoco#48 to tell us what went wrong for the Indians I guess.

Score as much as possible. It's not your fault that your opponents defense can't stop you. Especially if you can score 4-5 more touchdowns after the running clock starts. No mercy, no sympathy.

Rule 13

I personally feel that once the running clock has hit that is the mercy rule if points get scored after that so be it. I don’t agree with leaving your starters in for various reasons main one being injury it’s non sense to get your star athlete hurt up 40. However if the other teams varsity can’t stop your freshman and jv players then the coaching staff needs to go back to square one and re coach and teach their players the game of football because their is no excuse as to why your varsity can’t close out a game against the other teams freshman without allowing 30+ points if they do then your team has serious issues. It’s football play until the game is over how else do you think you get young players experience in real time game situations. It happens when you have injures and are required to step up or on garbage duty up 36+ with a running clock. I’ve watched how the game has evolve so much from when I was in school and I personally can say the majority of the changes are for the worse and have actually hindered the sport I love so much. I in no means wish injury on any player but you can’t as much as hit a player now days without a personal foul or targeting call. Roughing the passer or some penalty being issued for what used to be great hard hitting football. Football is a contact sport a physical game that isn’t for every one but society has changed so much that we all feel as if our kids are owed something or should get to play or everyone needs a trophy not everyone is good or deserves playing time it’s something that is earned and a reward for hard work not just showing up.
