One summer we actually built and maintained a field in a vacant lot behind one guys house. Full scale tournaments, concessions and the whole 9 yards. Those were the days.

 

One of my best friends grew up in Latonia. They played whiffle ball so much that one of his buddies actaully was able to talk his parents into turning the backyard into a whiffle ball field. In high school, they'd have weekend-long impromptu tournaments there comprised of their Holy Cross/Latonia/Covington buddies. My favorite part is that on each of their wedding days, all of the guys got together, went back to the field and played whiffle ball from dawn until roundabout 10:00 or 11:00am. Unless I'm mistaken, there was a newspaper article or television news segment or something like that done on their wedding day tradition.
