Best Student Section in KY

Featured Replies

Goodness, I hope not. No disrespect to my CovCath friends, but I've never understood the pre occupation with cheering. Maybe things have changed since I played (no leather helmet comments please), but when I was on the field I was so focused on my assignment, I totally tuned out everything else, particularly the bleachers. And sure as heck didn't need some cheering section to get me fired up to play. If it took that, I shouldn't have played the game. Maybe today's players are into that stuff (NFL syndrome?) more than when I played and they get some "lift" out of the cheering going on, but to this old fogey its just a bunch of non players trying to get some attention while not playing the game. Genuinely sorry if that's offensive to those of you who think otherwise or to those students who obviously put a lot of time into the planning and doing the cheering, but its just how I feel.

:thumb: The cheering creates an atmosphere, but rarely does it directly affect the players on the field. The fans enjoy it immensely.

Although I think you must admit that non-NKY teams are pretty off guard when they play CovCath in basketball.

I went to the CovCath and LexCath game last Friday. That was the first time I have ever seen CovCath, and I would agree with most above. CovCath has the best I have ever seen in high school.

The atmosphere by a student section gets everyone into the game more. The players are usually, like you said, already focused however a good student section will get the rest of the crowed into the game provide a more energetic atmosphere. And speaking from a players perspective I agree with you that I didn't need a student section to get me ready to play however I always loved knowing that my fellow students were there to root all of us on.

It doesn't affect a football team as much as a basketball team. In b-ball the students are much closer to the action creating a much more raucous atmosphere. When you throw in the fact it is in a indoor environment, the crowds certainly create havoc for opposing teams. That isn't always necessarily the case on the gridiron.

Anybody who thinks that a crowd (particularly a student section) does not affect the kids on the field or court is missing out. As someone who never had a problem getting fired up to play, I must admit that walking out and hearing the crowd was one of the best parts.

Yeah a crowd plays a huge part of the game. Teams notice when a crowd comes out to support. At Belfry you arent playing for just yourself but the whole community.

Also props to Cov Cath from what I hear you guys are great and classy which goes hand in hand. If you all get past JC hopefully I will see you guys in Louisville. Obviously Im rooting for JC due to Matney (a friend) but if you guys win I will defintley support you 100 percent at Louisville.

CCH......As of Thursday night CCH had 11 buses going to JC on Friday. When each student has to pay 15$ and adult 25$, I would say they are the best in the state. Go Colonels.....Beat JC.

Don't leave out those of us driving down on our own. :thumb:

And remember those aren't school busses, but charted busses which I believe hold 60 to a bus and don't come cheaply. Thats a total of $16,500.00 spent by the CovCath faithful to ride down to see their Colonels play, and as someone stated, that doesn't included those driving down for the game...

How many times a year is there going to be a thread on this topic? Each and everytime it turns out to always be the same answer. CCH is the very best and I'm not sure there is a close 2nd.

;) I'm not sure where they would rank but I sure like the Boyle County Roudies alot. o Rebs..
