stark
UK should get by DePaul...They will have trouble against UCLA. Question - With such a large lead late, why not insert Allen or Coury at the end of the game? Why risk some sort of injury that late in a game that decided in the first 5 minutes? Morris looked great tonight. Hope this game serves as a confidence booster for Maui. Really glad Baker decided to stop calling Stevenson "Pac-Man" and call him "Swat" as the player wished. romeo 4 president
Cats had a lot more intensity to open the game than the Miami game. Bradley looked a lot better and started to change my mind about whether or not he can be the point guard. MVSU obviously wasn't near as good as the Redhawks, but the team as a whole had more life tonight and looked solid going to Maui.

UK Public Address or the Pep Band needs to break out the old "Theme From SWAT" and play it when ever he gets a block :ylsuper: :ylsuper: :ylsuper:
UKPat02
Question - With such a large lead late, why not insert Allen or Coury at the end of the game? Why risk some sort of injury that late in a game that decided in the first 5 minutes? Well, it's hard to put people in the game who aren't even on the bench in Eric Allen's case. As for my observations, it was a tale of two halves. UK looked great in the early going but got sloppy in the 2nd. The freshmen looked like freshmen at times, and other times looked like polished seniors. We should expect the ups and downs all season. Here are my individual observations- Bobby Perry- Quiet game, got in early foul trouble. Still haven't seen the 2006 NCAA Tourney B.P. Perry Stevenson- Blocked 4 more shots tonight and altered a couple more. Very impressed with this guy. Can't wait to see his body mature and add some bulk. Randolph Morris- Asserting himself down low, making his presence felt. Had 18 and 9 under double and triple teams. Ramel Bradley- Solid effort. 5 triples looked good. 5 assists to go with a game-high 21. I'll take that everytime Joe Crawford- Struggled mightily with his shot tonight as evidenced by 1-8 from 3-land. I was a little disappointed he didn't find other ways to contribute knowing his shot was off. Can't have many games like this from him. Michael Porter- Looks the most like a freshmen out there. Still getting used to the college tempo. He'll be a solid contributor, just needs some more time. D. Jasper- I love his length. Wrecks havoc in the passing lanes with his quickness (5 steals). Still needs to cut down on TOs, but that will come with time. He'll be special. Jodie Meeks- This guy has no fear. No fear of taking it to the basket, no fear of jacking up treys, no fear period. I like that. He'll take some scoring pressure off Crawford this season and you'll see him mature quickly. Woo- I realize we're pretty shallow at the 4 and 5, but please...get him off the court. Sheray Thomas- See Woo. Mark Coury- You know what? I like him. We should call him William Hung the way he bangs. A physical specimen, just doesn't have the athletic ability. I could see Tubby putting him in sporadically just to give the big men a breather. Those are my 12 cents.

Well I agree with mostly everything except comparing Thomas with Woo...Thomas can actually help this team this year, Woo just causes more problems out there if anything IMO... futurecoach
I really like how the Cats played tonight, even though it was against a team that is not that good. The Cats played very up tempo and was sharing the ball. Bradley looked really good tonight running the show with 21 points on 8 of 11 shooting and also had 5 assists. And one of the assists he had to Crawford got the whole crowd on their feet... Good win tonight by the Cats, and now on to Maui...

I was wondering that too, but since it was only the second game of the year. He probably wanted to give the starters and just everyone more of a chance to play and get in a rhythm, because it could help get us more prepared for Maui...Im sure later in the year if we have a game like this, he wont have everyone in there still... Randolph Morris - could be an All-American if he stays out of foul trouble Ramel Bradley - could be the best player on the team if he can stay under control Obrzut - worst player in UK basketball history that plays more than 10 minutes a game? Thomas - better than Obrzut, but another scholarship flushed down the toilet Meeks - could average 8-10 ppg and has the talent to contribute as a freshman Stevenson - soon to be cult hero in Lexington Jasper - STOP the one handed passes Coury - reminds me of Frank the Tank in "Old School" Bobby Perry - will pick it up when it counts Crawford - probably the most pure athletic talent on the team; appears to be a streaky shooter Porter - great set shooter, plays hard, will contribute down the road Carter - Another One (scholarship) Bites the Dust Bobby Perry's Cousin - the annual victory cigar

Log Mountain Boy
One thing that to me seems to be sticking out early, and I know the competition isnt great, but I think we are going to be a much better defensive team. With as poor as our offense was at times last year our defense is what costed us. UK's defense was less than stellar and we didnt score a lot of points off our defense. I think this years team can be much better defensively and will lead to a much better season.

Last year we really didn't have anyone that would make other teams scared of going inside, but now with Stevenson we have a legit shot blocker, and that wont make it so easy for people to drive the lane to get open shots. I know it has only been a couple of games, but I just really like the makeup of this team, and think they can do some special things this year...
