Lets hear it for Henderson Co's kids

If you can put aside your personal feelings regarding the Duffy's( Duffer should b COY), give a big hand for the feel good story of the year. These kids(young men) have been thru more adversity than any team should ever go thru to b sittin there in the final 8. In a season where little was expected from a depleted group via heavy graduation loss, thru the death of a teamate b4 thier eyes, the ensuing media frenzy, fueled by gossip & rumors, & twice without thier coach, bonded together to fashion a 9-2 record. Now they have a daunting task of going on the road to play a tuff Warren Central team. They deserve a big hand:ylsuper:

Hats off to the kids from Henderson!! :thumb:

I was thinking this exact same thing this past weekend. Hats off to those athletes for coming together and doing something special.

Agree. I wonder how many of the people who have been out for blood for Duffer this season are sinking in the sand now. Be interested to see what the word will be if they make it to the carpet.

People can get on the internet and voice opinions, yet never give up their identity. I am just glad the program, the players, and the coaches have risen above all the scrutiny to put a brief silence to their critics. I am sure the vultures are only waiting for the next loss to start circling again. Maybe there won't be one, or maybe the vultures will have enough guts to stay off message boards and take problems up face to face with the powers at be. I guess only time will tell.

Very well put.

The problem is not the football fans as much as the people who are not football fans. I am not sure they will care how far we go. The rumors have been hard on everyone. However, the rumors are not what have gotten him on the hot seat. Rumors have been around Duffer and Tom for a while. Channel 25, the gleaner, and even WSON have all reported things that have upset many people. I can't see him being back next season because of the overall environment that has been created. I hope things work out for everyone because watching those guys coach has been a joy to watch.

This team plays more like a "team" than any Henderson team I can remember. Most people in Henderson thought we were going to win 3 or 4 games this season. Duffer and the guys have really done something special. Henderson is a team with small lines and allot of heart. They seem to get stronger the more they are challenged. Henderson is much better than Castle, and when we fell apart against them during the first game of the season with cramps and really nothing in the tank, most teams would have been finished for the season period. Every time something happens that would hurt most teams they play harder, they play better, and somehow they are focused enough to adjust mentally and physically in preparation and execution.

Hats off to a team with a heavy heart.

:thumb: One of the best post I have read. Nice job!!!

Congrats to the kids from Henderson County & Good luck.

I said since about midseason how Duffer has been able to keep it together is beyond me. It says a lot about him as a person. Coaches will get criticized and second guessed. It's part of the job. But the Duffer family has been put under a spotlite of unproven rumors and gossip yet all he has done this year is win.

When something doesn't go your way or you get dealt a bad hand it's easy to fold up and use it as an execuse but Duffer didn't let this team nor himself do that. Great Coaching job by Duffer and his Staff.

Then the powers at be and the administration need to put these fires out. If people who are not related to the program and don't really have an interest in the program, are able to run the program, then the program is in trouble. If people who don't have a vested interest in the program, the kids, and the coaches are allowed to voice strong opinions, then the administration is weak and at fault.

Sounds like someone in the administration needs to step up and sound out, and maybe they have. As for Duffer just keep winning. I am sure you are making all doubters cringe with every win.

You just have to stand up and congratulate the Colonels on what they have done this season. They were written off in many ways even before the trying events because of the talented class they lost. Add everything that happened since then, and you have one of the best (if not the best) stories of the year. A hearty congrats to Coach Duffy, his staff, and his team from a Warren Central faithful!

Much of it was parents running to the local Media with thier personal agenda & u know how the Media is.

Congrats and good luck to this team from here in Johnson Co.! :thumb: It's tough to imagine being in their situation and they have overcome all obstacles so far.
