9th Region Week 5 Review: The 9th Represented well in Holiday Tournaments!!!!

Featured Replies

I have knowledge and was told he would be out due to injury, that ND coaches would rather he not play and that he will be graduating early to attend ND. If he returns in late January it will not matter. CovCath is just a part of the “pack” this year.

I admittedly began the season high on CovCath, then sobered up some the last couple of weeks, and now I'm high on them again.

With this tourney in Florida I think that they unsurprisingly grew up as a team, and are beginning to separate themselves from the pack along with Cooper.

Sorta what we were all thinking to begin with however we do now know there is legitimate strength coming from the likes of Newport, Beechwood, and Highlands.

We should get a bit of input Wednesday when the Colonels travel to Newport. Even though they have yet the services of Mayer, they've developed their own personality anyhow, but Newport will need all the help they can get, and losing Mcguire is an unfortunate setback. Still they're very talented even without him so we shall see just what missing him means for this game.

Didn’t CovCath just get beat by 20 in Florida and only scored 28?

Yes.

Treat yourself to watching the archive of the game though, and I believe you'll find that even in this loss against a very tough team, they showed a focused team work ethic that helped to allow them to grow and build confidence while working on their game while also establishing with each other a solidarity, and gaining better instincts with each other.

They didn't appear to be raveled in this loss as if they were beat up, they seemed to recognize in each other a developed closeness that will only help them dominate better as local play resumes.

Good for you. You don’t have the knowledge that I do. I’m tight with the family. He still sits on the bench at every game, other than the Highlands game. He even traveled to Florida. They are improving in the backcourt, and once he arrives to move everyone around down low they will be just fine.

Yes and good luck to any NKY team that played them.

Here’s what I know... Cooper, CovCath, Newport & Beechwood all have some impressive wins this season. I love this time of year to watch them all compete in reg. season, but would be more fun to see all 4 in late February. They all have some really nice pieces, and all have areas to grow and improve.

I realize this was not directed towards me but I wold like to respond anyway. You might be right. For the rankings though I just go on what I know or strongly think and not what I theorize. I know that Covington Catholic lost to Highlands and that Newport beat Highlands. I know that Cooper has played better then the Colonels to this point.

By this time next month, I might know that Cov Cath is better then everyone else.

This is great bulletin board material for Highlands !

CCH appears to need help at the guard positions, more so than down low, just my thoughts.

No question. Deere leaving CCH for Cooper hurt that SG position. It will, and willalways be about matchups. If it’s a game dictated in the inside, CCH will be able to bully ball whoever they want. And on any given night like the night in Florida this week where Disken went 6-6 for threes, that helps too.

Didn’t mean for it to be that way. Highlands is good and playing very well! Just many people seem to be talking about those other 4. Highlands is easily right there in the mix. Good call.

What happened to McGuire?

What happened to McGuire?

He had two technical fouls called on him against University Heights, so from what I understand he must sit out one game.

I think I'm confident in saying that the Jan. 11th matchup of CovCath and Cooper will be a dandy.
