Oldercoach Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Major upset in Ft. Mitchell as the Tigers grabbed a tough victory over the #1 team in the 10th Region Campbell County Camels. This game was a battle all night with the muscle of CC against a much smaller BW squad. Game ultimately decided by 2 free throws by Scotty Draud with 5 seconds left to put the Tigers up 3. Camels cut it back to 1 on 2 FTs with less than 2 seconds. The 2nd made one was intended to miss and was shot high off the glass, but unfortunately banked in denying the Camels any chance for a putback rebound.
The Double Deuce Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Impressive win for Beechwood, with this win and the one over Scott, you have to love their chances in the 10th (yes, I know, it is a joke). Congrats to the Tigers. You have to think this team will get Coach Goetz to a regional tourney; good stuff!!
Red Tiger 17 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Great to see the Tigers win big games, and also a down to the wire win.
Oldercoach Posted December 22, 2018 Author Posted December 22, 2018 Sorry, no access to stats other than Reid Jolly had 24. This guy is a horse with finesse. I was impressed, unfortunately his charge with 5 seconds left and down 1 was a huge defensive play by BW's Baugh.
Red Tiger 17 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Camels stats Jolly 24 & 9 Wilson 22 Lawrence 10 50% gg 20% 3’s. 3/15
Red Tiger 17 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Tigers stats Draud 19 Brannen 15 Schilling 11 Bieger 11 47.8% gg 43% 3’s. 6/14
Oldercoach Posted December 22, 2018 Author Posted December 22, 2018 You forgot to mention the flop... Mentioned in updates and it was a flop. Ref blocked out and appeared to guess. Just my impression.
dd734 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Congratulations to the Tigers. Beechwood as a nice team. Camels turned over the ball too much. Chaulk it up, and move on.
Big Fundamental Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Beechwood is really good!! The Tigers always play hard & tonight they beat a top team in the state. Maybe now The Wood will get some respect, which fell off after bad Cooper loss, but in road.
Ball#5 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Would love to have “The Wood” on a neutral court!
Oldercoach Posted December 22, 2018 Author Posted December 22, 2018 Just my opinion.....Camels win 3 of 5....but, not tonight. Draud did not have a good game and yet BW takes this one at home. There is not a lot separating these two teams. Both well coached and Camels defense (forcing three consecutive turnovers) almost pulled this one out. Can easily see BW as one of top 3 in 9th. Camels suffer a little tarnish on that 10th Region top spot. Mcpapa going to have some chin scratching this week.
katbird Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Nice win for the Tigers. The Camels face guarded and held Draud all game. Scotty had to really work tonight for his points. I thought the game changed when Goetz put Duncan Baugh on Reid Jolly. Reid had to work a lot harder to get his points against Duncan. Beechwood will definitely be a tough out in the 9th Region the next few years.
