Mayfield

Kent Trey Matthews carried the ball 17 times for 156 yards and 1 TD.

Jayden Stinson was 11-18-160 yards with 2 passing TD's and 1 rushing.

 

Walton Verona

Tyler Wagner carried the ball 13 times for 149 yards. 76 of that came on the long TD run in the 4th.

Garrett Jones was 2-10-3 yards and 1 INT

Mayfield was as advertised. They could compete at any class level. Size, speed and well coached. Good luck to Mayfield in the finals.

AS expected Mayfield was very good in all aspects of the game. Well coached and disciplined. WV just could not muster enough to pull it off.

Mayfield, Henry County advance to state championship games

WV just couldn't muster much on offense. If they could have put in a couple scores early it would have been a different ballgame. They are just not a play-from-behind team. But I thought their defense played well. Kept everything in front of them for the most part, aside from a few big plays. Great season WV. You guys have a lot to be proud of.

Congratulations to Walton-Verona, mere infants in the grand scheme of high school football.
