November 11, 20187 yr What opportunity? He's had what 4 or 5 possessions? Wilson has had 95% of the snaps and isn't getting better. I say you play Gunnar against Middle TN the whole game and see what you really have with him. He’s gotten worse, much worse.
November 11, 20187 yr Hoak doesn't appear to have much arm strength and with UK's lack of pass protection, his lack of mobility would be a real problem. That's why i've been calling it an offensive line problem all along. The difference from the South Carolina Carolina to this one is the offensive line. They lack cohesion, and just flat out have no clue what pass protection is. Couple that with a defense that knows it must key on the run and you have a problem. The rush must be complimented with a passing game. Wilson just isn't a threat to throw the ball beyond 20 yards or more 4 to 5 times a game. That makes you easy to defend, especially in the SEC
November 11, 20187 yr He’s gotten worse, much worse. I'd argue that Wilson has gotten better. The time just isn't there. I remember Andre Woodson having similar problems.

Guys, I’m really not trying to bash the kid, just stating an opinion, Wilson is probably the worst thrower of the football in D1. If you can’t complete passes downfield against basically 1 on 1 coverage on every play you don’t need to be playing QB at this level and teams have played us that way starting with the second half against SC which is why we can’t run the ball.

The poor kid needs to be playing WR, maybe in the slot, it’s just really painful watching him to try and throw it, for UK to beat anybody now he’s going to have to do something he’s just not very good at.

I really don’t think he’s that bad of a thrower from a physical perspective. I think he can make every throw a college QB needs to make. I think it’s the mental side with him. He looks like he lacks confidence. QB needs to be the most confident guy on the field and he’s just not right now.

And this is why it's hard to make the accident from a duel threat qb (like Wilson) to a "pro" back like Hoak.

The 2 most important things a QB needs at any level, including the NFL, is accuracy and decision making and he has neither and probably never will, just the way it is, accuracy might improve some but decision making probably won’t. He’s going to be our starting QB 2 more years?? Not looking forward to that.

Sorry, accuracy is NOT a mental issue, decision making, yes, maybe more of a mental talent.
