CCH by a baker's dozen.

Colonel fans, what’s a good pre game spot that is close?

I like the Public House.

If Coldiron can't play, that is a big loss, especially on the offensive side. He is a big strong WR that CCH can turn to on tough 3rd downs and expect him to make a play. He and Mayer are the keys to the CCH offense IMO. A team can play excellent defense on 1st and 2nd down to force 3rd and long, then they just throw the ball up high for Mayer or Coldiron and it is a 1st down. Those two are difference makers that are very difficult for anyone to stop.

...I don't follow this one.

It was a response to an earlier post.

Thanks. I went ahead and edited in a quote of the original post from El Diablo.

I think the game not being played at Highlands is a big break for CovCath considering the injuries.

I think CovCath will come better prepared this time with a better offense. I predict CovCath by 3tds.

How is the CCH offense better for this game than the first one?

Young QB looked shaky first game. Knows what to expect and has the benefit of seeing how fast the Birds D moves. That is a huge plus for CovCath.

Caleb Jacob had a bummer night against HHS five weeks ago. Between the weather fighting against the passing game, his first big "Highlands rivalry game" as a sophomore starting at QB, and an rough night up front with the o-line, it was pretty tough sledding for him. Thankfully he's shaken that off in the last handful of weeks.

We also have Jacob Shriver back from injury at linebacker/fullback, and Lucas Jones back from injury at offensive tackle.

I'm assuming Coach Brown has been spending some valuable time with the D going over how to make sure we stop the Birds' run attack - especially Buten.

Not only do we get to remove the impact of having to play in Fort Thomas, but Friday night also looks to only have a 10% chance of rain. Both welcome changes from the last time around.

Jacob only threw 10 passes in the first game. He was 4-10 with no INT's. Was the low number of passes because of weather? Or because CCH was able to run the ball well so no need to pass? Or both? The stats don't tell me Jacob was playing poorly. He had similar stats in other games this year.

Two of Jacob's first three passes in the regular season game were uncharacteristically off their mark. One was nearly an interception. There was another red-zone play for Cov Cath on the 1 or 2 yard line where the ball didn't end up anywhere near the intended receiver. One of the pass attempts late in the 3rd or early in the 4th was low and was batted down by a lineman. He just looked jittery in the backfield, and the CCH offensive line had a difficult time with pass and run blocking throughout the night. That only added to his looking jittery, I'm sure. They had to burn a timeout in the 3rd quarter because Jacob was mixed up as well. If I'm not mistaken, the one Highlands sack of the night was on a pass play that never came to fruition. Plus, yes, the weather was definitely a hindrance.

I don't say that to be tough on Caleb or to rag on him at all, because he's been nothing short of an outstanding sophomore starter for us. He was just having sophomore performance in the big game, so to speak. I'm confident that we'll see a much better performance out of him on Friday.

Highlands line backers getting back into coverage as quick as they do causes problems for passing teams.
