Colonels will score at least 35 at home. Don’t think the D gives that much up. Maybe 35-21. If the secondary plays a great game not even 21.

Birds D has not given up 35 all year. That has been the one consistency with this team, defense is solid.

Isn’t that what we are doing here? Speculating?

Nope, I’m the prognosticator or prognosticators and I am predicting a long cold winter and a Birds win. Or at least a great Friday night football game.

No good. The farmers Almanac beat you to it on the weather. As for Birds, it’s for the Birds.

“It” as in the right to say they beat the number one team in the state? That it? Or the right to play for a state championship? Which “it” are you referring to?

I’m thinking up a supposition on how the Bluebirds can win, and the only way I see it happening is if CCH turns the ball over multiple times, and/or Highlands runs a couple kicks back for a score. CCH is as good or better at every position. Supplement that with CCH having a superior coach, I think CCH is will be playing on Thanksgiving weekend.

Let's remember, the CCH offense had one drive where they marched down the field and scored.. That's it. The other two were a 10 and 15 yard field. Give the CCH D credit, they made the plays to get the short field, but to think CCH is going to just march down the field all game is a bit exaggerated. Yes, Jacob has a game under his belt, but so does the HHS D. I'm sure CCH will have a couple drives where the O looks really good, but I wouldn't count on it happening all night. Just like the last game, turnovers will determine who wins.

By my count, CovCath had only 3 three and outs, one of which was after the pick on the one. In the fourth quarter they had two sustained drives. One they fumbled deep in Highlands end and one they turned over on downs near Highlands 30.

So not like the Colonels didn’t move the ball.

Do you think platooning will have any effect on this game? Like I’ve said before, this is the time of the year when platooning really grows legs. Cov Caths 5 best players play both ways. They don’t typically play a full game and it is a long step down for the next guy up cause he hasn’t played all year. Plus it’s late in the season and cold out. Even super stars get tired and roughed up. Cov Cath needs to get up early. If Birds are hanging around in the 4th quarter , I’ll take the birds all day.

Playing their top players both ways worked out pretty well for CCH last year and it doesn't seem to be a problem this year. Maybe it is better to play the studs both ways versus platoon?

Yes and no. If player A is a step faster than player B. And then player A runs 40 wind sprints and player B runs 20 wind sprints. And then you lined them both up for a race who are you taking? That’s why they need to get up early. Plus there is a whole season of playing two ways on all their legs. This worked for Highlands for like 10 years in a row.

I think what Eviston has done the past couple years with his top players has been interesting. He has in a way thumbed his nose at platooning. He platoons players, but not his stud players. He hasn't platooned his QB. I think the only lineman that has platooned is Michael Mayer last year when he was DE and TE. Eviston is keeping the D1 skill guys on the field both ways.

Eddie knows what he is doing, and who can go the full 48 if need be. Also, I am not sure how getting up early affects either squad. Highlands got the early lead in Ft. Thomas and lost.
