I don't know about other people. But I had a huge problem with the back judge running 30 yards in to make calls when I feel he had no business doing so.

 

In the first quarter, Nate Roberts made a sure catch. Replays verify it. The side judge was there and ruled a completion. But the back judge comes in and overrules the side judge. Why did the side judge and head official let that happen?

 

That's inexcusable. Years ago, when I umpired little league baseball, if I was on top of the play and sure of the call, NO ONE would have come 30 yards away and overruled me.

 

The same back judge called a holding penalty from that same distance back plays later. Now, he did get a pass interference call right when the Anderson County defensive back took down Ethan Houze.

 

Both teams played hard. I just feel the officials made it too much about themselves last night and that's just not right and I'm one of the first people to complement officials after games when I walk past them more often than not because I've done it and it's definitely a difficult job.

Wow! 1/10 on 3rd down. The ball starting 5 yards deep every time in those situations will do that. Coaches have to do a better job. They have to put the kids in a spot to succeed. You owe it to them. Unexceptable!

 

I know the defense will be ready to play next week. Question is, will the O.

Anderson county lost 6 fumbles?!!! Unreal.

I'm sorry it's kind of funny when you listed a bunch of calls you didnt like that went against Highlands. Then turn around and say but the ref did get it right when it was a penalty on Anderson County. I'm not saying you are wrong because I didn't see it. I just found it funny.

Friend of mine is newer official. He said officials switch regions for playoffs, like basketball. So from my years of attending games, I’d say the games are called differently across the state, and each region has their own “style” if you will.

I think he was saying the official called multiple blatantly bad calls when he was out of position against HHS, and the only one for HHS was an obvious one he couldn't ignore right in front of him. If you weren't there, it's tough to comment on how bad it was.... IT WAS BAD! Let's move on from it though. On to the Birds vs. Colonels!

The "catch and fumble" call that went against AC late in the game was wrong - but completely understandable. One of the local TV stations happened to have a good angle in their highlight package. If you slo-mo'd it, he never really controlled it. However, he ran a few strides while juggling it very close to his body so completely understandable that an official would not see a brown football moving against a muddy jersey while the player was running.

 

Hudl stats say 2 lost fumbles and 2 ints for HHS. Seemed like more lost fumbles by HHS.
