Kentucky fined for rushing the field after Mississippi State Win

Featured Replies

The SEC has fined University of Kentucky $100,000 for "Rushing the Field" after the Cats defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday.

Only about 100 people made it on the field.

This is such a stupid rule.

For the small number of fans that went on the field that seems like a very stiff fine.

They definitely didn’t get their money’s worth.

If the PGA had the same penalties East Lake in Atlanta would be bankrupt after the Tiger fan rush happened this past Sunday.

You know I get being concerned for fan safety, player safety after a big win. I really do (and support it). But 100K? Who do you think UK will pass that cost along to?

Probably the fans, which I'm 100% on board with. After all, it's the fans fault there's a fine to begin with.

And it's only $100K because it's not their 1st offense.

Seems kinda steep.

Pocket change for UK.

Why do people have a problem with rushing the field? It’s a silly thing to get upset about. The fans go on the field after ever Clemson game. I was on the field after the Ohio State/ Michigan game in 2016 and it was one of the coolest experiences of my life. Let people enjoy the moment.

I bet you are right that it's passed on. I wonder what the second and third offense cost will be?

This is the second offense, the first was $25,000, in 2014.

The next or third offense would cost $250,000.

I would like to know where exactly that money goes.

It’s all about safety. Which is hard to argue against

I think the risk is worth the reward.

About a $1000 per person. If they beat Georgia if I were UK I'd let every fan in the stadium out on the field. I think it would be the same fine.:idunno:

So if someone is seriously injured was it worth it?
