Teams from weak Districts

Featured Replies

I was just a youngin but wasnt the Rockets toughest playoff game that year against Fulton Co.?
Yeah, in the district championship game ... both teams had won their sub-districts. If I remember correctly, Fulton County was undefeated and maybe ranked #1 in the AP poll.

Crittenden beat Fulton County 7-6, then beat Caverna 28-0, Carroll County 35-7 and Paintsville 14-6 in the final.

The Pride of Crittenden County:lol:

Wow... In response to UnderArmour

I think Prestonsburg was the best team Belfry played in 03 and 04.

IMO, and I know oneIjoe and others may counter, Belfry won those games due to better conditioning and better coaching. I can't believe anyone would call Prestonsburg weak.

Simply wrong.

Can a Lloyd fan disagree??? :D

I disagree on this one. While some of the teams (Lawrence Co., Boyd Co., and Greenup Co.) weren't as strong as they have been in years past, there are still some pretty good teams (Ashland, Mason Co.) in the district. Johnson Central is just that much better than everyone in the district this year.

I agree wth this.

Yes Gametime. They were very good. The weather made it unclear what the teams really had that night.

P-burg was better than any other team Belfry faced in 2003 and 2004...including E-town and O-Cath. For my money..Belfry was #1 and P-burg was #1-A. No disrespect intended toward any other program...but I believe Cam is right....most Belfry fans would agree with those statements.

I don't think UnderArmour was really calling P-burg weak those years. His statement was essentially correct. No other District 8 team compared to the Pirates then.

LOL...I'm sure they will. That's the essence of BGP's. ;)

The essence of what the Belfry folks are saying, from what I've come to understand of their take is...P-burg played Belfry pretty even in both years' tourneys on a fast, dry field while the Pirates played well, making few mistakes/turnovers.

Johnson Central---weak district!

In recent years Bell and Rockcastle have played for the title...both out of District 7. This year, under new format with them meeting in round two, one of them should emerge and take on Johnson Central. It will be interesting to see how that District champ fairs against Rock or Bell.
