Was at the game should have been around 24-7, Scott County was inside Moellers 20 about 3 or 4 times, just couldn't punch it in to Moellers credit. SC def is big, physical and they get to the ball in a hurry. Got LaSalle next week. One more thing, when people say that Covington Catholic is better than SC, I just do not get it. There is nothing to base it on. SC beat them I think in '15 and '16 and most of their players were back off that '16 team. Heard SC wanted to continue the series but Cov Catholic didn't I was told. Great win tonight by both teams, way to represent Kentucky.

When people say CovCath could beat Scott County, here is what they base it on:

 

1) In 2016 Scott beat CovCath by 7. CovCath was driving in the 4th quarter to tie (or win with a 2 point conversion) when they turned the ball over in Scott territory. Those teams were on a pretty even footing.

2) The CovCath teams in 2017 and 2018 are probably 3 - 4 touchdowns better than the 2016 team.

3) CalPreps rated CovCath the better team in 2017 and again so far in 2018. Since the teams don't play, its a data point to consider.

4) Different sport, but we were told twice there was no way CovCath could beat a heavily favored Scott County team in the basketball state tournament. One close game and one blowout later, CovCath won both games.

 

At the very least it would be a competitive game. What I don't understand is people saying it wouldn't be a close game one way or the other.

Don't know how many Moeller opps run the Wing T offense. But, its deceptiveness is unreal when ingrained deeply into Scott Co.'s program from middle school up. 275 rushing yards speaks loudly to Moeller's inability to adjust to it. This is the reason Scott Co. was able to beat Male in their championship year. Guarantee you that Coach Wolfe has put in untold hours on defensive scheming against the Wing T knowing some year they will meet again. Rematch in 2018 could be epic; but, lots of football to be played before that might align to happen.

Congratulations Scott County!! Glad to see teams not only take on tough opponents, but also to beat them. 6A football is more interesting and more wide-open this season than I can remember.
