Totally missed that. I didn't have a chance to read anything much on Moeller's game against Clarkson North. I know they had a decent frosh QB last season, plus a mess of other young QBs who they were cycling in on their frosh and sophomore teams. I'd guess they opted for McKenzie, though. He backed up McBride last season. Didn't see a ton of playing time, but he was the official backup. From what I saw of McKenzie, he would have started last year at 90% of the programs in Ohio that aren't Moeller.

Why has Moeller never put bleachers in their own stadium?

 

Moeller's "stadium" is essentially their complex of practice fields. I haven't been there since I was in my playing days in the 90s, at which time I don't recall that they even had field goals in place, and there definitely weren't and stands or a scoreboard. I think they only got lighting there fairly recently.

 

Theoretically there's room there to build an actual stadium, but I was told by a few Moeller grads (I used to work for a company that was essentially operated by Moeller grads) that the residential neighbors surrounding the school wouldn't allow for it. Moeller is kind of in a situation like Cov Cath, where the school was built in the late-50s or 60s into an otherwise residential area and the local folks already living there didn't originally take too kindly to the idea of an athletic stadium.

:lol2: Yeah, that definitely wasn't there 8 years ago. And that was all just grass in the 1990s, plus there was no track.

 

It doesn't look like there are any lights there, though. Plus, that stadium is really tightly worked in there next to the soccer field and the neighbors' backyards. I don't see much space to add stands or a press box or concession stands or bathroom facilities. One of the issues they have is that when they're playing rivalry games against Cincy St. X, Elder, LaSalle, and Coleraine, the games are easily going to draw 5,000 spectators. I've been to numerous games between those teams with over 10,000 in attendance. That field just won't work for that.

They did. But I think they missed the RB’s more.

I think if either of the RBs had remained healthy, Trinity could've staved off WC and won the game. Without Dingle there were a lot of missed/arm tackles on Eliot at the second, third level. I feel that Dingle would have been to curtail some of that rushing yardage. But it is what it is. The Rocks must move on.
